This is only the discs.
Replacement discs only. The ball and shaft (one piece) that slips into the pen, does not come with these. I knew this upon ordering. Order the ball and shaft from the Adonit website, its cheaper than Amazon. Depending on the surface you use the pen discs on will depend on the wear the disc takes. I have a plastic screen protector and it scratch it up pretty bad after an hour of taking notes in a class. After the third day of notes the disc has increased drag and scratching of the screen. I am too scared to try it on my new laptop screen without a protector, since my screen isn't glass. Other than the wear and tear this can cause, the pen works excellent.

Works for the Jot Pro
These precision discs in fact do work for the Adonit Jot pro but be careful on which one, I’ve seen some people who have the jot pro but the tip is huge. If you take a good look at the tip for the stylus I have it has a black line before the tip and a smaller metal line leading to the tiny bead, be very careful on which jot pro you are using when buying this.

I have a Jot Pro I love using for taking notes on my Samsung tablet
I have a Jot Pro I love using for taking notes on my Samsung tablet. When I first got it a couple of years ago, it worked well initially, but soon began to have skipping connectivity issues. Thanks to Google, I found that if you add a bit of aluminum foil between the tip of the stylus and the plastic disc, it helps. I did this and it worked better, but still had some skipping issues, which is annoying for as much as these styluses cost. It was working okay when my 2 year old niece was in my lap and knocked the disc off, flying who knows where, never to be seen again. This was the best deal I could find for replacement discs. I appreciate that they came in a 3 pack, as these tiny things are easy to misplace. I had hoped that the newer generation of discs would be better designed to correct the skipping connectivity issues, but I am still having the same problem. I guess it's my trusty aluminum foil to the rescue again.

Glad to have these extras. Super cheap.
I almost threw my pen out because I lost the tip--thinking that was my only resort, I was wrong. Glad I ordered these to have extra laying around in case I lose the tip again.

These have what look like a small copper cup to help give the ball ...
I got this to replace the standard disc that comes with the pen. The disc that came with my jot pro would skip unless a fair amount of pressure was place it while writing. I got these spares to experiment with. These have what look like a small copper cup to help give the ball and plate a better connection, while the stock disc did not.I gave the pen tip a thin coat of arctic silver #5 thermal paste (ran the pen tip over the tip of the paste tube just enough so that the ball at the end looked grey and not like metal). Not sure if it was the paste, or the copper cup or both, but the difference between the pen before and after is ridiculous. It puts my windows surface rt on par with my cheap waccom bambo minus of course the finer point and pressure sensitivity of a digitizer.Definitely a must have. Shame that the pens don't ship with one of these discs to start.

Super expensive, what happened?!
I bought this product a few months back with the Jot Pro, I wanted replacements just in case. Now I have used them up, and I require more but at $24 this is crazy expensive for 3 plastic disks that are replacement parts for a $20 stylus... When I bought these a few months ago they were $7 ($2.33 per disk) that is a 340% increase on the price!. Now I don't know what to do because I am not planning on spending $8 per disk that lasts a month or less with how much I use this stylus... I might end up buying another stylus in which I can get cheaper replacements.

Inaccurate picture but still works with Adonit Jot Touch 4
I spent a while trying to identify the correct disc to order for my Jot Touch. It is very unclear why on their site, the Adonit company charges $2 more for the "T" (Touch) labeled discs than for the "S" (Small) discs ($8 and $6 respectively). The shipping charges annoyed me so I tried to find them on Amazon and figured I would bundle them with other things to offset shipping costs (every little bit helps!). I was perplexed that the photo clearly identifies Jot Touch replacement discs while the text indicates otherwise. I wasn't sure whether the discs I would receive would be what was written or what was shown in the picture but figured I could always return them if necessary. In the mean time I researched whether the discs were interchangeable between the T and S series. Although I have not found evidence to support this theory other than actual usage, the S discs seem to be working with my Jot Touch 4 (newer version with the triangle logo). While I paid $1 more than on their site, there was no shipping so I consider this a win thus far. Should the discs prove to be incompatible, I will update.
