What a fun read
I love love loved this book. I haven't laughed this much out loud through a book in....well never! The banter is off the scales in this and I am here for it. The lead female character is so relatable and charming, and the rest of the crew are fantastic. I can't wait to read the next book :)

Hilarious!!
The only time I've read anything with Ms. Breene, was when she co-authored with Shannon Mayer on Shadowspell Academy. So I thought I'd give one of her books a try!!And I chose this one!!Right from the start you fall in love with Jess and I've got to admit that she is most definitely someone I would be extremely close to.....BFF's and all that boo 😂🙉🙉😂It's so funny, that even when they're in "danger" it just had you laughing out loud enough, that even my dog covered her ears and asked me to stop 😭😭I always get the audio with books and i don't know what's going on, but over the last few books, not only had the author been great, but so has their choice for who narrated the books for them. And this ladies and gentleman is no different!!I've come across her again, ANOTHER bloody fantastic narrator!!In fact I'm going to tell you quite categorically, that this young/middle aged narrator, is absolutely, without any doubt, The BEST narrator I've ever heard before!!Not only does she bring all the characters alive, but every single one of them has their own voice!! And boy, you can't help but imagine every single one of them in your minds eye and even get a feel for how they'd walk while their talking!!Sounds crazy?!?!?!Trust me,I KNOW,However it doesn't change the experience. Her vocal range is amazing and the way that she passionately portrays Jess when she's drunk, hungover or squawking due to finding a giant rat in front of her. Or the corner she thinks would be great for "Flat Too Scalps" 🙈🙉🙈🙉🤔🤔I know, you don't get it, but if you buy these two and listen while you read, I promise you, you'll not only get it, but you'll be extremely happy you did!!Now I'm supposed to say whether or not I'd recommend these two......I mean, seriously??? Hasn't anyone been paying attention??Look up ^^^^^^^^^ there, what do you think?? Sheesh 🙄🙄🙄🙄What are you still doing here?? Skiddaddle and get buying them and enjoy 🙄🙄🤦🤦😂😂

flipping brilliant
I loved this book, it’s absolutely brilliant and doesn’t take itself too seriously!Lots of interesting characters, a brilliant female lead, and a house that is more than you expect it to be!Highly recommend this book, I read it in one session, and am getting the rest of the series right now!!!

Absolute adorable!
It's so refreshing to have a protagonist that's going through a midlife crisis, but also knows herself and what she stands for. It's a good thing she does because being dragged into the world of magic requires gumption! This little book was recommended to me by someone in a Facebook reading group, and I do not regret picking it up and I'm sure you won't either.

Highly humorous romp on the quaint town of O’BriensJessie finds herself single, an empty nester and homeless, she moves home to her parents to reevaluate and decide what her next steps will be.Jessie’s childhood friend Diana provides the solution, a live in caretaker at Ivy House in the town of O’Briens. Having been to Ivy House as a child Jessie, who always remembered and loved that house, immediately sets out for her start at a new life.Once in the town of O’Briens she meets a whole host of odd characters and one very handsome bar owner. This was a great read and quite the confidence booster for someone who’s just over a year off 40.4⭐️

Fantastic read! Can't wait to read the next instalment! I'm defiantly going to recommend these books to everyone who likes suspense action and friendship! The first instalment has been outstanding and very interesting story telling, brilliant action, the characters are unpredictable and slowly getting to know them better. I can defiantly see that thing's are going to get hotter between the characters.

not your grandmas romance story, slow burn spice, FUN FUN FUN characters
The Levelling Up series was not something I expected to like. I had learned of this book on a random FB sponsored ad. I dont recall what drew me to it, but let me tell you none of this is my typical genre to read from. I think it was the appeal of reading of a character in her 40s. I'm in my 40s. Nice to see the main star to be someone outside the typical 20 something. Figured I'd give it a go, and if I didnt like it I have the option to stop, yes?The first chapter was meh. Though, I tend to be a little snarfy when I first begin a new book. Takes a little to get into it. But then once it started rolling, I was so very much hooked. I think once I realized that the writer can write, can flesh out detail, can give life to not only main characters, but give a lot to side characters, and I can imagine the surroundings so well yet am not spoon fed all everything. I was impressed, and hoked. I cant get enough, I could read from this world forever more. Love the characters, all the fun quirky details, and the lovely boost to my imagination. If you aren't reading KF Breene, you should. Very funny, lots of wonderful side characters, and the main story has some meat. But I could read all about the Levelling Up world without any story line. I just LOVE hanging out with all the characters. Funny stuff, hot stuff, some feels. Not overlly dramatic. And not at all scary despite some freaky stuff going on.And yes, there are ridiculously hot guys in this, with cringey names (I suspect it is an intentional nod toward the lame romantic tripe of so called romance books). Stop clutching your pearls long enough to just enjoy this. It's a slow burn, and please feel free to enjoy it. OR dont pick up a fantasy (on many levels) book.If the details in this book freak you out, then you wont be able to handle the intense spice of some of her other work. Ruin of Roses, comes to mind. That is another incredible story with loads of detail, awesome side characters, but the heat is turned way way way up. Wowza. Well done.. mm hhmmm

Fan-Freakin'-Tastic!!
I have not enjoyed a book this much in forever! It had me from the first page and I loved every minute it. I loved the sarcastic humor and actually was laughing so much I had to take a minute, several times. The characters are quirky and little by little their true selves are revealed but it kept me guessing until they were and then, WTH?? My mind was blown! The plot moves along nicely and although you have an idea where your main characters might be headed, you're not 100% sure and all is not revealed in this first book. You do get a glimpse of the magic and it reels you in. I can hardly wait to jump into the next book and see how things develop. The mysteries of the house, the dark forces to be revealed, the extent of Jessie's magic and of course does Austin fit in here somewhere?I highly recommend this series and definitely this book.Excuse me, I have to go download another installment of the Levelling up series.

Interesting PWF, although not my favourite of the genre
I enjoyed this book slightly less than I had expected. The humour wasn't quite mine, the repetition of "cracked up" referring to things or characters being a bit off was frustrating, and I never quite understood the reason for Jacinta being called Jessie. What set me off the most, however, was that, while the author did a great job at presenting a woman in her 40s as still in her prime and in many ways a more aware and rounded human being, she seemed to just move the definition of decrepit. She doesn't have the same respect and understanding for characters who originally appear to be in their 80s (of course we find out they are significantly older than that, but the impression by Jacinta is that). Of course, people start slowing down, falling apart physically and at times mentally, but it seemed hypocritical. That said, I enjoyed the secondary character. I enjoyed the idea of the house and the paranormal world. I liked the shifters being so varied. It was entertaining, and I will read the next book. But I do hope that some more understanding is provided to the older paranormals.
