I use the jar for my sourdough starter. I only keep about 50 g in it most of the time and it works super well. Then when I'm ready to make sourdough it's plenty big to add to it. Easy to clean, perfect size, great quality!

I really do love these jars. I have 2, & I may end up buying 1 more for my sourdough starter. I used canning jars at first, but they were hard to clean. this is much easier to clean & holds quite a bit. It seals well when I put my discard in the fridge. I highly recommend this jar.

It's a great jar for sourdough starters. Big enough to hold a lot of starter, enough for multiple loaves at a time (if that's something you do). I bought two of them, so I can just feed the starter and transfer it to the other to clean the first one out thoroughly and let dry. And that's the reason these beat out regular mason jars--the cleaning. The wide top and flat sides make this *far* easier to get clean, whether hand-washing or in a dishwasher, than a bog standard mason jar. Highly recommended.

Using these for my sourdough starter and love the straight collar. Glass is heavy and love the “old school” gasket lids.

I have been looking for the best jar for my sourdough starter and this is it. Wide body making it easy to add ingredients and properly stir, great value for your money, you’ll have this jar for years. When I am not growing my starter, I put the rubber liner in and use the two clasps to seal tight. Perfect design to keep your starter alive! The build if this jar it thick and sturdy, extremely functional!

Love Weck jars for my sourdough starter. They are perfect. Very easy to use with or without the ring seal to provide airflow or a sealed jar. Durable and good quality. The straight design makes stirring starter very easy to do.

The jar is perfect to store dry goods (pasta, beans, dog treats, etc) but the closure mechanism is a bit clumsy. Occasionally, to get the clamps off I do something that causes it to spring off; and I have to search the floor for where it landed. The rubber seal takes a while to set firmly on the top of the opening. The clamps are very small and seem 'flimsy.' so will have to see the durability. It looks sleek and modern with no bulky closure taking up storage, but am tempted to see if a wide mouth jar lid would fit. But the glass is a sturdy quality and looks so nice I may purchase more if the lid can be replaced.
