I have a 13 year old nephew who wants to ...
I have a 13 year old nephew who wants to be an astrophysicist when he grows up. He is a difficult young man to shop for, especially since he and I live across the country from one another. I came across this book when I attended a workshop by one of the artists at New York Comic Con and was so greatly impressed by the artwork, the story and the accompanying app that I immediately went to amazon to purchase it. I brought it with me the next time I visited my sister and gave it to my nephew. At first he wasn't very interested because he's not hugely into comic books, but as soon as I had him download the app and had him use it with the book, I wish I had thought to record his reaction. He was enraptured. If you need a present for a kid, young or old, honestly you can't go wrong with this. If you need a present for yourself, you seriously can't go wrong with this. It's a work of art.

A massive (literally) graphic novel!
Like the title suggests, this graphic novel is massive. I couldn't get over how big it is. If you get this plan on having a large coffee table book, or having to lay it down on a shelf on your bookcase. If you like a good sci-fi action story you'll enjoy Anomaly. There are humans and of course different alien races all colliding in a very well crafted story. Another cool feature of the book is that there is an Anomaly app that enhances the book. Using the app characters from the book will pop up in 3D/augmented reality. Of course the app isn't the main reason to get the book. If you like sci-fi, great artwork, and graphic novels check it out.

Good story, great art!
I highly recommend Anomaly to any fan of Science Fiction. Not just those individuals, that are into comic books. Anomaly's story isn't breaking any new ground, but it is told very well, with interesting characters. It really builds a world that feels lived in, with ton's of back story. The best part, is its a self contained story. Although, it does leave it open at the end, for a sequel, the ending is more than satisfying. No waiting month to month for the story to continue. The art is also amazing. Every panel, on every page has art that's better than most comic book covers. Each panel is a painting, it really helps lend a sense of realism, to surroundings which are completely alien. Now, lets talk about the augmented reality app features. They are really well done, and a lot of fun to interact with. They add a lot of depth to whatever they focus on. They really do make this book unique, and stand out. I will say, however, that they can be a little distracting from the narrative. What I suggest you do, is read the book first, and then go back and explore the interactive features, because they really are worth checking out.A few minor detracting points, for me. First, they layout can be confusing at times. As an avid comic/graphic novel reader, they tend to follow a standard layout formula, that makes it easy to read. Its much like reading a book. You follow the panels from left to right, top to bottom. Whenever there is a page, with a different layout, the artists usually make it pretty easy for you to know, how you should be following it. This book had some issues with that. Some pages are left to right, top to bottom, some are top to bottom, left to right. It seems to change, sometimes there will be a panel situated to the right, however you are supposed to be reading the one below it, there is nothing indicating this, so you'll be scratching your head a dialog response that doesn't seem to make any sense, until you realize you read the wrong panel. This happens more than once, but is only a minor annoyance, and is not worth passing on this book. The only other thing I will mention, is the size of the book. This is a big book, while it makes for very beautiful art, it makes it somewhat difficult to read. You can't comfortably hold it, while sitting on a couch, or laying in bed, etc. You really need to have it on a table of some sort. Those few grievances aside, Anomaly is well worth the purchase price, and worth reading. I wouldn't be surprised if we start seeing a lot more books following the path that Anomaly has forged.

Anomaly is a Fantastic Adventure
First of all if you love books you will really love what you put in your hands. The feel of the book, the quality of the materials that they used, and the binding are very well made. What an adventure. The minute you open the book to see these spectacular illustrations you're hooked. The storyline takes you on an adventure that you don't want to end. This new genre of entertainment, blending the new iOS Devices with a high-quality book, makes even internet crazy kids ask for time to read. Love it....Well Done!

A beautiful book
I preordered the book when I first read about it back in September. The book is an oversized coffeetable type book with beautiful art. I thought the story was pretty good as well. The whole package is well designed and I am already looking forward to the next volume in the series.
