Infernal Enchantment by Helen Harper a five-star read that sets the pages aflame
Infernal Enchantment by Helen Harper a five-star read that sets the pages aflame. This is the second instalment of the Firebrand series and follows Detective Constable Emma Bellamy on her crazy fiery journey to justice, ensuring the Supe Squad have a rich and powerful future. Once again, a great supernatural series, filled with characters that will keep you on the edge of your toes and have you wanting more and more to the point of stalking. I really love how Helen Harper has a great way of pulling new characters into the story without you realising, it’s like they suddenly appear and feel so well rounded its like they have been there from the beginning. Watching Emma as she grows into her role in the Supe Squad, watching her as she develops relationships with the supernatural’s, some stronger than others, but how strong will those relationships be and will they last when what Emma is truly becoming, and the consequences of that is revealed? This is a great story and number three best be here soon, as I’m in lockdown and cant do any stalking!!!

Enjoyable 2nd book in the series
I bought this as an ebook. I've enjoyed reading this book. It's the second in the series. It CAN be read as a stand alone but much better if read in sequence. The plot is fairly simple, it borrows from familiar themes of police procedural and urban fantasy. The setting is London. It has one or two elements that are novel, the nature of the main protagonist and the treatment of ghouls. The writing moves along at a fairly quick pace. The main characters are starting to get more rounded and I am hopeful that future books will develop the other characters equally. It's an easy and enjoyable read if urban fantasy is a genre you like. I've enjoyed both books in the series and will be getting the 3rd when it is available. It's part of the 'Kindle Unlimited' system if you are signed up for that, making it a no brainer. Get it, read it, enjoy it.

Vampires, werewolves and ghouls, oh my!
A great second book in this new series.Emma Bellamy is the only detective in the Supe Squad, the branch of the London police force that deals with crimes involving supernaturals and humans. She always thought she was 100% human until she was murdered one night in a church graveyard and woke up 12 hours later in the morgue. She's trying to keep her mysterious power a secret but already the vampire Lord, her DSI and the local vicar know she rose from the dead.In this latest instalment, Emma is asked to investigate the death of a young werewolf by his distraught parents who cannot accept that he chose to be made a werewolf and are blaming the pack for his subsequent death (hit by a car). At first Emma's role is comfort and getting rid of the parents, but when the werewolf's remains are not in his coffin it introduces Emma to the world of ghouls!!!Then the vampire Lord comes to Emma with a problem, an opportunist human thief has killed one of his vampires Emma's investigations lead her to a modern day Fagin and uncover the truth about her powers.I really like this series. It's light-hearted, I didn't (correctly) predict what kind of Supe Emma is, the characters are engaging and I like the contemporary London spin on PNR, kind of Buffy-esque but also a smidge of Peter Grant in the Rivers of London series.Eagerly awaiting the third book in the series.

Really Enjoyed
Ive recently discovered Helen Harper. I like that her books ive read so far are set in places like Manchester and London. I like her take on the supernatural species encountered in her books. This one revolves around Emma, a newly promoted Detective to the Supernatural Squad and her acclimatisation to her new job and position. Totally human Emma gets a crash course in supernatural politics and lifestyles only to discover she isnt......human that is!

Great read as per normal....
Great read as per normal from H.Harper! Great story lines, great main characters namely Emma, and Lucas of course, and the others too didn't disappoint. I ordered the three books as a package and read them easily and unfortunately far too quickly.... Looking forward to the forth installment. Read and enjoy....

Great book
This lived up to expectations in fact better than the first book. Our hero has accepted, almost, her role and is excelling as a detective. Its nice to see she takes no crap from anyone, but maybe she should be more careful I've never known a main character die so often.

Different
Unusual central character but good story and characters with a wide range of plotlines available that aren't your more traditional style.Worth reading and I will be broadening my reading of this author's work as well as continuing the series.

Loved it
The premise remains intriguing, although you do get more of an idea of what Emma is in this store. The story flows easily and I just enjoyed everything about it. Can't wait for more and I hope this series maybe stretches beyond three books
