Q: Can this be installed using tension only or does it need to be screwed on the ceiling?

It can be installed using tension only, but it will be very flimsy. I would highly recommend securing it in place with screws, specially if you have children and/or pets. I had mine secured by tension only and it did not feel very safe.

Q: Is it feasible to use in a sheltered outdoor location (i.e., on a covered porch)?

I think if the screen was not out in direct weather, it should be OK. I'm not sure how the moisture would effect the fabric, tho. We love our panel and have found many uses for it in an open concept mountain cabin.

Q: Is this sturdy enough for changing room dividers for a spa

I got it to put in front of a treadmill in my sun room to sorta disguise it. I am not sure if it is really large enough for a changing room.
