I thought this knife was too expensive for a bread knife but I went ahead and took a chance. I’m so glad I did! I make a lot of homemade bread and having to slice it all was such a chore and so many crumbs it was ridiculous! This knife slices right thru without hardly a crumb! It is a pleasure to use and now I actually enjoy slicing my bread! Definitely the BEST bread knife ever!! It is well worth the money!

This knife is awesome in looks and performance. The bread knife cuts like a razor. I used it for the first time to cut a Hungarian raisin/walnut loaf and the design of the bread after being cut was intact and sharply delineated from the crust to the center of the bread. The knife comes beautifully packaged with a well-detailed booklet on use and care (something you no longer get with many products). I appreciate the fact that this company cares about its customer long after the purchase of their product as evidenced by their guarantee and pride in what they are selling. I like the heavy duty sheath in which to store the knife as it is razor sharp and this is a good safety feature. Thank you for providing such a wonderful product and backing it up with your caring. I look forward to using this knife for many, many years to come. I will also share it by giving it as s gift (which I have already accomplished once by giving one to my son for a gift). The quality and workmanship of this knife are excellent. The packaging if the knife was way more than we expected. When we owned it, we felt like we were opening a piece of jewelry or work of art. And not disappointingly, this knife is beautiful It is well balanced, and sharp. I baked a loaf of artisan bread on my komado grill to test it out. The crust was very crispy coming off the grill, and this knife cut it with ease. After using bread knifes of poor quality for the last 16 years of our marriage, this knife is a welcome change. As a side note, we had been researching knifes for a while before purchasing, but we're undecided until we read a criticism of Dalstrongs chefs knife. The founder of the company responded to the criticism with incredible tact and restraint, simply providing education about the manufacturing process of the knife, and the companies philosophy of knife making. We would have purchased this knife on its own merit, but were so impressed by that response, that we wanted to own one of the knives. We highly recommend this bread knife, and certainly recommend doing business with Dalstrong!

If it wasn't for Amazon reviewers I would never have found this knife, so thank you! This knife is the one on the right in the picture with 2 knives. We have been making our own bread and I have always struggled to cut bread straight or not mangle it. Even when cooled I can't seem to cut it. We had a bread knife from a $200 knife set from Costco. My husband spent $30-40 on the other knife in the photo. This knife was amazing. I wasn't expecting such a MASSIVE difference in knife performance. I took a closeup of some slices and put a spoon next to the slices so you could see now thin we have now been able to cut the bread. Even I can cut bread now and not mangle it. We both cut a few pieces and could NOT believe the difference. Thank you Amazon and the whole community on here! I can now cut my loaves of boule and they are nice and thin and a super clean cut!

The knife arrived in 4 days via standard UPS. The knife is as beautiful as the images indicate. It is very well balanced and its construction is what one would demand of a proper high quality knife. I use bread knives to slice more than just bread and this one does what is asked of it effortlessly. It cleans easily, but be careful or you will find a part of your fingers in the sink. The included hard plastic sheath is in the shape of the knife blade itself, is very light weight and does not add ungainly bulk when the knife is fully sheathed nor does it upset the knifes balance. When sheathing the knife you will note a little click to get the knife fully seated into the sheath. This is the mark of quality and correct design that ensures the knife is secure and will not fall out of the sheath even if dropped (I tested it for this) meaning it won’t work its way free in the drawer and cut you when you reach in for something else. I recommend this knife to anyone who wants high quality at a very reasonable price.

I'm giving this knife four stars out of five. I'm happy with the knife, it's sturdy, sharp and has a nice quality feel. The lack of the fifth star is for the packaging. I've mixed feelings about it. One one hand it's very fancy, double boxed with a custom lined cut out. On the other hand I could not help but feel it was a bit overkill. Once I take out the knife, the fancy packaging is really just trash. It would be inconvenient for me to put in back in the box after every use unless I was only going to use it on special occasions and show off in front of company.the plastic sheath it came with will protect the knife, no need for all that cardboard. It also comes with a very thick booklet inside, again, it's a knife, what do I need all that information for? it's just not very eco friendly, I guess the key chain is a nice bonus. So yes, a nice knife for the price but now I just feel guilty about tossing the fancy box and the booklet, at least it can go in the recycle bin.

La qualité allemande ce n'est pas une légende. C'est assurément un couteau que vous garderez toute votre vie et que vous serez fier de léguer à votre descendance. Certains avis négatifs sont incompréhensibles. Boulanger-pâtissier professionnel depuis près de 40 ans, je n'avais jamais eu l'occasion de posséder un couteau à pain d'une telle qualité. Et Dieu sait si j'en ai eu des couteaux à pain ! Toutes mes félicitations et mes remerciements à l'équipe de DALSTRONG ! The knife feels beautifully made and nice to use. Very sharp as would be expected. The knife comes in a lovely presentation case and would be ideal as a gift. I used to own a set of Gustav Emil knives, and these are defiantly of the same quality. I will be purchasing more from this range. Absolutely worth the money.

High quality bread knife

Beautifully presented. Looks superb and is very functional. Sliced fresh bread thinly with ease. Yet to try on anything else. Expensive buts looks and performs well. A really professional piece of kitchen equipment.
