My problem was assembling the vertical tubes on the horizontal tubes. The fit was so tight that I had to put WD40 on the metal and use a hammer. Although careful, I still cracked a fitting.Amazon was excellent in sending another barrier however this one had the same problem and before breaking their one, I returned both. The product is a bit flimsy however probably would work ok.Note that if you have a plastic cover in the back instead of carpet, the bottom feet slide very easily on it. This means cranking up the screws and pushing the upper pads even more into the ceiling which will show round impressions in the ceiling.I do not understand why it was so difficult to assemble. I am an active DIY person around the house so used to putting things together.......

I have 2 40lb bulldogs and a pup and they all escape this. I have a jeep and when I extend the bars to the side they are so flimsy the dogs just slide through them to the backseat. I've even duck taped them in place and they just move the whole unit out of the way. Would probably be ok for vertical tension with the hard top, but the sides don't have any stability horizontally. Wouldn't recommend it at all. Would have returned but found out a week too late.

This product is garbage! Unless your vehicle is a rectangle or box good luck keeping this device in place. The slightest bump while driving or my dog laying up against it is enough for it to just fall over. The tension dials on the feet are useless and the adjustable legs continually move. I have never been so disappointed with a product in my life!

Works great. My dog is an escape artist, and she hasn’t managed to slip through this (yet?).Knobs are plastic, so my dog has chewed them up.
