A different kind of hunt.
When the FBI arrive at Anna and Charles house it is to ask for help. A village of people who live off the grid have disappeared and the land they were living on, is owned by Leah. When they arrive, they find that the village looks as if the people have only just left. Can they discover what has happened or is this going to be another mystery unsolved. The excitement and chase of this story was a thrill to read and helped us to understand some of what Leah went through before she was changed. I can't wait for the next book Patty writes

Talented author with wit, character development and storytelling
Love Patricias's writing and always get excited and happy when she publishes a new book about Mercy or Anna. Beautiful character descriptions and development , interesting and unusual storytelling with a bit of humour and romance thrown in for good measure! Thanks Patricia we await the next installment.

The best book in the series by far...
To date I have enjoyed this series but for me, it has been nowhere near as compelling a read as the fabulous Mercy Thompson series. This book was brilliant full of surprise twists and suspense. Charles and Anna embark on a journey to investigate the sudden disappearance of a community in a wilderness owned by Charles’s family accompanied by the engaging but unstable Tag. There is a darkness awakening that may be beyond their ability to combat and Charles and Anna’s relationship shows more depth and colour than ever before. We learn more about the relationship between Bran and his mate Leah and boy, is it a revelation! Although the book mainly focused on the plot from Charles and Anna’s point of view it is truly Leah’s story. All I can say is that the author has surpassed herself and kept me glued to the story until the very last (shocking) page. What are you waiting for? Read it now : )

Always worth reading ....but only 4 stars.
I love Patricia Briggs stories, they are all good but I prefer the Mercy Thompson novels ( 5 stars no question) to the alpha and omegas and this is a good example of why. One, though the characters are interesting and likeable, particularly Anna and Charles, there is less leaven to the seriousness and less variety of characters. Tag provides moments of light relief here but no real chuckles until Coyote appears at the end. Two, the 'Charles and Anna go off into a wilderness to investigate and then find something which stretches them to their limits' theme is starting to feel a bit predictable. Three, I had a couple of moments where I found the writing a bit clunky in its explanations. I don't usually notice anything when I'm reading one of Patricia Briggs novels because she is so good that I'm totally engrossed in the characters and plot, but this time I noticed how we were having explanations of things like Brother Wolf's increased presence . I'm happy to have more of Brother Wolf ( just like I would love to see more Stephan, please? )and didn't need the authorial intervention. On the p!us side, and there are loads of these, its great to see Bran being less god like and Leah humanized . Tag was great and i do love an interesting artefact ....where will Jonesys sword go next we wonders....And wow what an epilogue!!! I can't wait for the next one!

Oh my this was amazing!
Wow. I love reading Patricia Briggs books. This was a great story from beginning to the end. I love Anna and Charles and Tag. Their relationship and team work was brilliant and how the FBI and the witches thought Anna was the all powerful ‘Marrok’ leader of the wolves had me howling with laughter. Damn, this was a cracking good read!

Great story that explains so much.
Book 6 of the Alpha, Omega series. Anna and Charles are sent to investigate a new enemy and unravel a mystery in the process. A centuries old entity is stirring in the mountains and a people have vanished. To add to the mystery, it is where Leah first met the Marrock and the land is owned by Leah.I loved it. Great story and we met the real Leah for the first time and boy did it explain her issues. I can’t say she will ever be my favourite character but we were left understanding her so much better. It’s possibly opened up a whole new avenue to explore.Charles and Anna continue to grow but I still feel that something is... not missing but maybe not cemented in their mating bond. Maybe it’s will settle, with that cliffhanger of an ending. No spoilers.... but oooh lordie.Enjoy.

We learn about Leah’s past and how she and Bran came to be mates.
Charles and Anna face an enemy unlike any other. There is an entity living in the woods. It’s been there for centuries, it feeds on humans, taking their memories, stealing their lives. There is a small community that has settled in the area, at first everything was good till it was found that the whole settlement had disappeared. Leah, Brans mate, as a young girl of sixteen wastravelling west with her family when they fell foul of the evil in the woods. Now, two hundred years later she is having disturbing dreams, singing, when Leah NEVER sings. Charles and Anna are sent to the woods where Leah was found and the settlers missing to see if there is any signs of something supernatural happening. They have not come a moment too soon, something is stirring in the woods, it’s growing, it has allies and all Charles and Anna have are their skills as werewolves, which against this enemy will not be enough they were not enough 200 years ago..............another great entry, but O.M.G. The ending it broke my heart,,,,,,, I must have the next book in this series immediately.

This one was a cut above the rest...
I have always enjoyed pretty much anything Patricia Briggs has written, but this installment within the Alpha & Omega series is really a cut above the rest. It was well paced, didn't get boughed down in detailed explanation of the inner working of bonds and breaking curses (cough Smoke Bitten cough), and had legitimate character growth of several characters. I am so excited to read what comes next, it just sucks that we probably won't see another installment for 2-3 years.1. Loved Bran and Leah's subplot from start to finish, including glimpses into Charles childhood and the quick interaction with the FBI. I wish their last scene together was longer.2. Charles hidden well of untapped power, definitely need to see that being utilized in the future. Making peace with that side of himself and learning to embrace it would be interesting to read.3. So much Brother Wolf, which is always a plus. This story finds Anna and Charles in a stable solid point together, which is so much better than rehashing the "Oh I'm such a monster" trope. I don't think either series needs to go down that route again.4. Sufficiently creepy/evil monster and setting that set an atmosphere throughout the entire book that kept you on the edge of your seat. I've seen this book compared to River Marked, but I think this one has the edge. The personal connection to this monster made it scarier in my opinion. Trigger Warning: SA was a part of the MO of the antagonist, but I didn't feel it was exploitative. Other's may disagree.5. Tag was great, loved learning more about him, though I kind of wished he's got the finale he accepted.6. Oh my god that heartbreaking ending! While it provided an answer to one series question, it also opened a whole world of implications that I can't see having anything but a tragic end for two characters I love. Really trying not to write spoilers here. Going to need that whole story and conflicts to be explored in it's own book. I don't want a tragic ending for them, but how could they abide by the path they've selected? Unless Mrs. Briggs is planning a time jump in the future with a new heroine and series, I don't see that storyline ending positively in the present.Several characters either had their stories reformed/broadened to truly show them and their motivations in a new light, while also developing significant changes in their arc. I hate to say it but the Mercy series has been a little stagnant as of late. Though even a decent book from Mrs. Briggs is better that most stories out there. I almost wish the Mercy series would wrap up so that the Marrok pack/Charles and Anna story can take center stage. Maybe Mercy can handle getting the Fae/Government conflict wrapped up, because I truly need there to be a no holds barred battle in the future with Wellesley/Frank Bright, Sherwood Post, Charles and Bran against the Hardesty witches. That story line has to end in the Alpha & Omega series. The only negative I have is that a character from Smoke Bitten book, who was exposed as a Hardesty spy during the rushed ending of that book, was never brought up or dealt with in Aspen Creek. But that's my only minor complaint.I rarely write reviews, but I really enjoyed this story. There was a sober menacing quality to this story that I think has been missing in the last few installments. I'm sorry Smoke Bitten was a little hokey and almost felt like an episode of that old fairytale show Once Upon a Time. No one really felt in danger in that story and everything was wrapped up neatly with all the characters in pretty much the exact same position as the start of the book. This story had more depth in my opinion, and I would recommend this story and series to absolutely everyone.
