NEW FAVORITE PRODUCT
There was nothing about using Milkshake dye that I didn’t like, and I’ve used tons and tons of hair dyes, shampoos for various colors, tinting, glazing, etc. since my first temporary hair dyes at age 6 (I wanted to look like Roxy Freefall from the Gen 13 comics in 1st grade). In high school, I was a huge manic panic fan (Hot Hot Pink & Pillarbox Red) which I kept vibrant with DevaRed no-poo (non-sudsing shampoo for colored hair). I’ve actually never had my hair done at a salon- I’ve always gone to a professional supply store to buy lighteners and powder bleach, until I perfected the art of lightening my almost black, auburn hair, with toned bleach or toning it by using the best toning tool: the color wheel. I’ve had virgin hair for years, but being in my 30s, I wanted to do something about greys and white hair. Unfortunately, I can no longer use boxed color or any permanent hair dye- too much dying on a weekly basis has given my a SEVERE allergy to permanent dye, and not many color-depositing products cover white hair (you often end up with like 3 strands of blue hair). I like Karacolor Klenditioner alright, but it washes out quickly and gives white hair a blue color. I no longer bother with manic panic, due to the mess it leaves in its wake, including dying your scalp, bleeding after you sweat, dying your hands and cuticles, your grout… it’s just not worth it. And the application process is a nightmare. I thought I was happy with Arctic Fox “Transylvania” because it dyed my hair a soft black, but my hair still shone auburn, like my natural color. It doesn’t ruin your shower curtain or towels, and it smells so good! But it bleeds when you wash your hair. I decided to do one last crazy thing with my hair and did split dye black and lightened (3 lightening processes). Due to an issue with the first session, it was uneven, with patchy areas still brown. I tried John Freida violet crush shampoo, but it gave my hair a pink tone. Head & Shoulders shampoo has a talent for drawing out stubborn color, so that’s actually been the best product to get rid of brassiness. I also used plain organic coconut oil as a conditioning mask, which oddly provided a cool tone and much needed nourishment to the lightened half.I’d read a review here saying to be careful using this product on bleached hair, but I WANTED it to be more than one-day hair dye, so I did a strand test on my clean, dry hair BEFORE my shower, in case of an allergic reaction. Not only did I have no reaction, the foam had toned my hair beautifully!!! After drying my hair off, I used the foam as directed, on damp, clean hair and it was like a the miracle product I’ve been searching for my entire brassy life. At the moment, my bangs are a little blue and overall, the silver is darker than my ideal, however, given my strand test, after my next wash, I’ll have the white/ silver in the front quarter of my hair, which I honestly didn’t think was possible with how dark my virgin hair is! I will be buying the warm brown to use on the dark side of my hair. My hair is so smooth and shiny- it’s amazing. Thank you, Milkshake!

Don’t waste your money buying this.
Simple—-doesn’t do anything for hair except give it a greasy feel and stinky scent. But it will instantaneously STAIN your hands that won’t wash off with soap and water. I hardly ever take the time to write a review but this was so bad I thought I’d save someone else the time and money. Don’t buy it, unless you like to throw your money away.

Purple hair instead of grey
The intense grey gave my hair a purple sheen. Make sure you use gloves as it stains your hands.

Doesn’t hide my grays, just gives my hair some life!
I typically use fanci-ful to give my salt and pepper hair some shine and oomph. I decided to try the dark gray Milk Shake mousse and I LOVE IT. It darkened my hair but not enough for my husband to even notice. (I know that isn’t saying much ) The first time I did not touch my light gray hair”money pieces” since they make it look as if I highlighted my hair. The second time I used the mousse on all my hair. I LOVE it. It’s perfect. Not messy to apply, I use gloves!

So happy. Glorious results,
I tried dark grey on my white and dark blond hair. My hair always has looked severely damaged for some time. I don't use hot hair appliances, We rollersets my hair.So today we received this product and after I shampooed my hair and let it dry till just damp we follow the directions applied the product and we proceeded to rollerset my hair. You can see a comparison photo of me before and after the after being the darker hair. I love it it's so shiny and it is a perfect dark gray that gives definition to my hair and my face.Made my hairstyle go from being dated to looking really sharp.I really really love this product and would recommend. We did not use any additional styling products on my hair to set the hair with.Parked on a light touch of finishing spray and that was itIt was very easy to get off the skin I used disposable gloves while applying it I'm very happy.

Cool idea!
It’s has a subtle effect. Container is small, so can’t use it generously. And better wash hands ‘immediately’, if not wearing latex glove, cause it definitely stains. Will be reordering.
