worth the money
UPDATE: I had these for a few days now and they are wearing just fine. In fact, I ordered another as a gift for my grand dog!I ordered 2 of these, one for an arthritic dogs who insists on laying on the hard floor under an end table which is her favorite place to lay. The other is for my other small dogs to share as they all huddle in a corner together. The item arrived 2 days after I ordered it. I can see why it got such high ratings.AKC is a name I recognize and trust. It is 2-3x thicker than other pet beds I was looking at.For the size and thickness, it's the best deal I found and way cheaper than the pet storesThe top is plush material, but it's not that thick. I found this out as I was trying to get the plastic tag that holds the cardboard info to the bedding. The cushion inside is a cross between an egg crate mattress and memory foam (but not a memory foam). There's some give to the cushion but it is nice and solid and supportive yet soft, if that makes sense. Your dog won't sink down into nothingness, which is not good for back or joints. It's size will accommodate almost every size dog from small to medium. It's 3" thick! It has a non skid bottom. I have mine on a hardwood floor and they aren't sliding all over the place. I know it's made for a crate and it sure would turn a crate into a cushy bed, but I am using them for beds on my floor.Spot clean only.Other reviewers have bellyached about how cheap this is and how their dogs tore it up or destroyed it.It's $16.99 for a 24 x 19" 3" thick pet bed that looks decent.. Go to Petsmart and see what you can get for $16.99. You wanted something plusher and better but didn't want to spend the money. And if you have a dog that scratches and digs before it lays down, then get something more durable than a fuzzy topper. And if your dog tears up their beds, try exercising your dog or giving them some chew toys to get out their pent up energy. Dogs tear up things because they're bored, frustrated or have no outlet for their hyperactivity. Don't blame the bed, look at your dog.The bed didn't just explode without warning.I have dogs that don't dig or chew so I think these beds are going to last. As for the plush top shedding off--I have a shepard who fills up the canister on my vacuum every week with her hair. The bed isn't any big deal for me.It's a decent bed for less than $20.00Made from recycled materials. Not sure what that means.

Comfortable/Fits Midwest crate/Easily Chwed through
I have 2 mixed pups 6 months old. Their breeds are Golden and Labrador Retriever and German Shepherd. These beds lasted about a month and a half before being chewed through. They were generally only fed in their crates until a week ago when they had their neuter and spay surgeries. We have had to keep them in their crates off and on throughout the day to be away from playing with each other and to rest. 10 minutes alone in the crate in a different room my girl started ripping up the cover and inner foam. I will probably cover this in duck tape for now as it's a small hole. Put Elizabethan collars on both after this and to prevent them messing with surgical site. Days later the other bed totally destroyed with a half hour alone time in kitchen with crates open so they could roam about a little. They both still had their Elizabethan collars on but teamed up to demolish a bed. They are high energy breeds upset they can't play together for hours outside right now which of course brings on more destructive behavior, but people have been home nearby everytime they start attackin the beds. I gave this bed 3 stars for comfort, color choices, and how perfectly it fits in my Midwest crate measuring 42 x 28. Probably better a bed for older dogs or well behaved pups. Because I bought these specifically for the babies to be comfortable after their surgeries during sleeping at night I gave it 3 stars. If you have a chewer do not leave them alone with this bed! Very quickly can get through cover to foam and ingest pieces if unattended! Will by K9 Ballistics orthopedic crate bed and see how that goes for comfort and more durability when dogs crated and alone.

Perfect for Crating During the Workday
My dog has separation anxiety, and does much better crated when I leave. Since he has to spend 4 hours at a time in the crate I wanted him to be as physically comfortable as possible. When I opened this up and laid it on the floor to take care of the packaging, he went over and chose to lay on it (not something he does unless it's the couch). He's definitely more comfortable, and hardly moves while I'm gone (at least not enough to be detected by my wifi camera). I sat on it myself, and found it super comfy - just the right amount of supportive and firm. The fit in a Midwest crate is tight, so it's definitely not going anywhere. My guy doesn't really scratch to make a bed, so I'm not sure how the cover would hold up to that.Although the cover says "do not wash" I have hand washed and air dried it and it seems to be no worse for wear. Between rare washings I use Febreeze or baking soda with esstential oils (sprinkle on, let sit for 10 min, and vacuum up) to keep it from stinking too badly.

It's just a dog bed...
Our dog needed a new bed in her crate. So, I got this thinking it was something special being "orthopedic". Well, it is just chunks of foam compressed together. Second day on it, my dog ripped into the corner...that's how I know it isn't anything extra ordinary. The soft top isn't super easy to clean...so I made slipcovers, so if there is a problem..mud or otherwise, I can just slip that off and put another on.My dog is one who gets hot easily...so she isn't fond of it actually...it will be great when it is cold out...My Grandkids love to lie one it and play in the crate....which is adorable...but the dog isn't super excited. As far as sturdiness...no it isn't terribly...not if she can tear the corner open and apart ( I was able to stitch it closed and put the slipcover on) still ok.

Best crate bed I've had so far
Not only does it fit my dog's crate perfectly, it's very soft and supportive. My pup is 100 lb of love and I hate the polyfil pillows because all the stiffing winds up in the corners and my dog is laying on the floor of his crate with only the cover for comfort. This has foam inside instead and it's firm enough that he can't compress it all the way. I've only washed it once, but it came out of the dryer in perfect shape and went back on the foam easily. You can't tell it's not brand new. Overall, it's the best crate bed I've had so far.

Great Bed for Price
I had originally bought this bed in a smaller size for my dog from the store but I wanted to upgrade to a larger size so I ordered off of Amazon. He is a 70lb Lab X and this size is perfect for him. My dog loves this bed, and despite several negative reviews on here, I'd highly recommend it.The cover is removable and machine washable. I used to machine wash mine but I always found it hard to put back on. Now I vacuum it nearly daily and it looks as good as new each time. My dog's original smaller bed is two years old and the cover is still as soft as it was when I purchased it.So in short, if you're looking for a fairly basic but decent quality crate mat/dog bed, this is a good buy. It's durable, easy to keep clean and you dog will love it.The interior is a foam pad. No, it is not a fancy memory foam but in my mind it's better quality that the quilting stuffing that are in most dog beds. If you're looking for something a bit cushier for your dog, you're likely going to have to shell out some more cash.Update: I've purchased several of these now in varying sizes as we foster dogs (and these are not indestructible so we've gone through quite a few). Despite having other dog beds around the house, every dog seems to choose this one. I may have qualms with the zipper, foam inside, etc. but if the dogs seem to like it, it's good enough fo r,e

Great quality, very comfortable, ridiculously good price
High quality, brand name, and a ridiculously low price! These are a steal! If your dog is under 20 lbs and would be comfortable on a 24 inch x 19 inch bed, I cannot recommend this bed more highly! It is very comfortable for my 18 lb Cavalier Spaniel.Important tip: You may want to consider the size of your dog's crate before buying a bed that is bigger than this! I was thinking of getting the 30 inch bed, but remembered that only the 24 inch one would fit in my crate. This bed fits perfectly. The only disadvantage of this bed is that the foam insert is pretty difficult to remove, chips easily (if you pull it), and cannot be washed. You would need to be very careful not to damage it since the zipper's opening is smaller than ideal. One solution I came up with is inserting a thin pee pad underneath the cover of the bed. That way, if your dog wets his bed or gets it very dirty, all you need to do is wash the cover and replace the pee pad! It works great!Ultimately, this bed is a must-have for small-medium dogs. It is high quality, brand name, very comfortable, and healthy.

Helped my dog with IVDD!!
These mattresses have helped my dog with IVDD heal during crate rest. They are perfect height for a dog that can’t jump, my dog can easily get on and off of it. It has great softness yet firm to support my dogs body.I’ve ordered 3 of these that’s how good they are. I got them in the small size (my dog is a 6.5lb toy poodle) the size is perfect for her, plenty of room to be comfortable. It fits in her generic sized crate.I recommend if you have a dog that needs extra support (aging/spinal/muscle issues), I also recommend for a dog with no issues to relieve tension. The cover comes off easily to be washed. Great product!

Your Dog Will tear it up the same day.
We got this for our crate optimistically that Toby would be comfortable on it. We still bought it despite the reviews stating that their dog ripped it up very quickly... this is 100% true. First, dogs are attracted to leather so we had a hard time keeping him away from the leather tag on the side. Secondly, he peed on it within a couple of hours of it being there. The urine was absorbed through the entire piece of foam inside. After washing the foam and the cover and putting it back in his crate, he urinated on it again instantly. Repeated the cleaning process and now he wont stop biting at it to try to tear it up. I would never leave him unattended with this crate mat. We cannot even use it at all. Not worth the money whatsoever.

Nice cheap orthopedic dog bed
Pros:*comfy dense tough foam for my dog to lie on in a nice long size, 42"*27".*very soft plush coating*very affordable at only $40~ CAD*I think this product is completely vegan as I'm pretty sure the tag is faux leather and everything else is synthetic.Cons:*strong slightly "medical" chemical aroma. Can be somewhat removed by placing bed at a 45 degree angle leaning against a wall with a strong fan on the floor blowing into and up the bed. Did this next to my air filter in a room with the door closed. It did make the whole room smell kind but that's what the air filter is for. Smell wasn't exactly bad or toxic but it was strange and chemical like a medical chemical. Gave the bed to my dog when it seemed like the smell was mostly, maybe 2/3rds gone from it and gone from the top layer of foam that the fanned air could reach. Most of the remaining odor has since dissipated and only a trace remains at the bottom or if you squeeze it and shove your nose in.*label says spot clean only. Upholstery can be removed but has no label for washing so I don't know if that's a good idea.
