Would these be any good for lighting up a house sign that's staked in the ground at night time so drivers can read the sign at night?

i dont these are powerfull enough to light up signs they are more for out lining path edges you a different sort of solar light for that purpose.

I have put all 8 lights on and only 2 work...any ideas what is wrong

As long as you have turned them on and they are placed in an area that gets daylight they should work. They could possibly be faulty.
