E-BOGU Polypropylene Wooden Style Black Sword with Black Saya Scabbard (33" Mokume)

I wanted to find a training sword that would be safe enough for my daughter to use while learning Iaido, so a bokken without a saya wouldn't be ideal. This polypro sword is a scaled down version with tsuba & kissaki, as well as a saya, so it's been the ideal safety training weapon for her to learn with.As long as I've known of e-Bogu (for decades now), they've consistently produced quality products.

Why did you pick this product vs others?:I wanted a training Wakizashi sword as this didn’t disappoint the least bit. The weight and being able to use two hands like a katana with the length of a Wakizashi is incredibly fun!The scabbard is cheap though, like it’s just hollowed plastic like you get with traditional Halloween costumes. So I felt robbed there.Build quality:The sword and the thick heavy polymer is quite nice as it gives a close to reality feel without the danger.Length:Overall coming in roughly 30 inches overall in the blade is interesting and I enjoy practicing the draw in a close environment and being in tight. Has made dueling fun for sure!

The material of the scabbard seems and feels pretty cheep and the sword it's self is alright and is pretty expensive... I'd say you're better off with a 10 dollar wood katana at a China town, i have one and its heavier and feels awesome. I feel for 44 bucks the scabbard should atleast meet its standards too.

The bokken sword included in this purchase is worth the money I paid for it. However the included scabbard is only a little if not as bad as costume store quality plastic and can not be used to practice any blocking techniques without breaking it's severely hollow shell.

Hi, I would have sent this directly as a request to the seller, but I couldn't find a messaging option that wasn't an Amazon chat bot. Customer service has so far been very good--the first sword I ordered had a little sharp spot in the plastic that would have hurt my hand while training, and they replaced the sword right away. This time the sword itself seems great, but the tsuba broke the first time I tried to put it on. Would it be possible to send me a replacement tsuba without returning the whole sword? Thanks for your help.

the sword was very sturdy and really good for martial arts but the sheath is a little defective because it's plastic but it is a good product
