good wholesome movie. Enjoyed it, although it was a little slow

Wonderful true story of a remarkable family!! We also lost a 35 year old son in 2007 to colon cancer and he left his sweetheart with four young children This man was blessed to have shared so many good years with his family. We shed lots of tears because it was so close to home, but also felt their great strength and love for each other---and their trust in God. Our 9 year old grand daughter asked if they could keep it when we took it out to Kentucky when we visited them.It was brand new---we hadn't seen it---and at the end our 7 yr. old grand daughter was sobbing. We had to do our best to comfort her as the mother really has a heart wrenching cry when her sweetheart finally dies. Might be good to talk with younger children and reassure them that her crying was an indication of her deep love for him and she had a loving family to help fill in the loneliness ahead. Thank you for this special move!!!

Indeed this movie could’ve been directed by God Himself;His principles are acted out in this one. Acting was mediocre;but believe it’s cause I’ve lived in this world too too long&have allowed my heart to be desensitized & not see His Beauty&reason of what a •REAL• family should look like, by His standards. Wow, what would our world look like if our families lived this life! Movie has certainly given me much to digest & how I can facilitate to bring about a needed change in chaotic family’s ~

This man dated a 12 year old and married her when she was 14.This is supposed to be a mostly period movie but the cars, one lamp & what the mom wears sometimes as well as an occasional child. This was slow and bad acting.We will throw this in the trash.

This movie would be a great movie for discussion because of the wife's age when the two met. This man was the foundation of the household and you do not find a lot of men like that today. This movie reminded me of my childhood when the wife stayed at home and was the help mate. I realize now that it almost takes two people working to maintain a household with children but it would be a tool for young couples to see.

True story about a real man--one of those unsung heroes. If the world had more men like Donald Bailey, the world would be a far better place indeed. In a Hugh Hefner world, it's nice to be reminded what a truly real man is.

Arrived in good condition and great time. The movie was not the best but had a good theme to it.It is a great family movie and I would recommend it to families with teenagers.

There is no indication on the DVD cover of The Measure of a Man that this is a true story. In fact, my husband and I thought it was fiction until the very end and the epilogue was printed. It seemed to us that this movie was a more serious version of Cheaper By the Dozen. However, once over the surprise we decided to watch it again with the knowledge that this is a true story. We realized what a powerful and even unusual movie this is.One young man and one very young woman marry against all the odds that suggest that the marriage will never last. Why? Certainly because of their youth, but also because they both came from extremely deprived childhoods. Not only did Donald Bailey and his wife defeat the odds, they raised nine children in a family that was filled with love, acceptance and strict discipline. This story is a tribute, made by their youngest daughter in memory of her father.I would say the main message that shone through Donald Bailey's life is that it is possible to rise above heartbreaking circumstances and terrible poverty in one's childhood and become a wise, loving and highly relational person. Secondly, his life demonstrated the determination expressed in the saying, "Never give up". I highly recommend this movie for the whole family.

this movie was ok, if you like singing and talking all during the movie, it was a very slow movie, I did fall asleep on it, sorry, but it seems that this movie would have been nice for those families involved in it, since someone created a movie about their own family , which is fine, but I didn`t really relate to it, so that's why I was being understanding to just give it 3 stars

Exceptional movie for the whole family. So good we watched it twice in one week! Would recommend this movie to anyone.
