This is made in China. I would not have ordered these if I knew it.

This thermos is AWESOME! I put boiling water in here, (with the cap on) let it sit for a few minutes while I warm up soup, empty the water out, put the soup in and it stays warm for my daughter's lunch! The first time it was too hot for her to eat, and in fact it was still warm when I emptied it out at the end of the day, way more then 8 hours later. Great thermos, highly recommend it.update:We did encounter it being stuck shut for the first time tonight. Both my husband and I tried to get the lid off, ran hot water over it and everything. I thought we would have to toss it, but then I did the jar trick. Turned that baby upside down, smacked the top flat on the counter and it opened! Hurray!

When I got this item I thought I can use it for any food item. But its mentioned in the instructions that its only for Rice and soup. We cannot wash the lids in dish washer and too many limitations on using the product in the instruction sheet given. Some how I was not happy with it but still send my son to preschool with his lunch in it. Like hot dogs, chicken nuggets, chicken fingers etc...It serves ok but not too great. For my son he eats small quantities. So I just need either one of those containers which came with it. But with out putting the top container the lid wont fit. Some how I was not too happy for the price I paid. I expected much more for atleast the price I paid.

The container is very good at keeping the content's temperature. It's easy to close and open. However, there's a little hole at the bottom of the colored plastic part attached to the insulated metal canister. Maybe there was a manufacturing purpose for it, like an air gap or something, but that hole lets in a surprisingly large amount of water, which won't come out unless you shake vigorously. Forget about dishwashing this - you're better off hand-washing because the time you spend shaking the canister to shake out the water will take many, many minutes longer. That hole is a huge design failure.

I bought this for my 6-year-old to take his lunch to school. He has truly enjoyed having a hot lunch option, and I have enjoyed the reliability of this container. The food stays warm for hours after being preheated with boiling water. I highly recommend this product!
