If you need this, well then this is what you need! Lol, it's niche use item. I use mine to mount a light meter to a mic stand for setting up broadcast lighting. I'm sure it would work great with cameras. Small, nicely machined, nothing to complain about.

This is such a useful tool. Lets you put a camera, video recorder, phone, etc. on top of a slender microphone stand or boom stand rather than a tripod, which takes up more footprint. I use it to hold my video camera or phone when recording musical performances. Much easier to put a microphone stand in an audience location rather than a tripod, which has expanding feet. Especially if you’re trying to position it between rows of seats or within pews, for example, in a church.

Nothing fancy, just reliable. You will also need tripod mount adapter for your camera, so you can attach it to this mount.

One of the best camera accessories I've bought recently. Paired with a good sturdy microphone stand (I use a TAMA MS205) you can use it to mount a camera above a drum kit or piano for an better overhead shot than an average camera tripod can achieve. In this same vein I'd say it could also work for an overhead shot for working at a desk without taking up extra space on the desk for a tripod, or drilling into a wall for a wall mount.
