It should. All 351w are pretty much the same. It works great on my 89 bronco

Will it work on a 88 f150 inline 6?

Yes, it should be a good fit! Use a good platinum, double platinum or iridium plug with it for a hot spark. Also, you will need a good cap and rotor. And, a good set of good quality 7mm or more low impedance plug wires. You, will notice a slight power gain and faster starts. Advancing the timing a little, not to much to cause pinging, will get you some power too,
