A dear dear book and THE best alphabet book!
This is such a dear dear book! My 4 yr old who already knows his alphabets and is working on improving and perfecting his writing now, loved this book instantly! We have a few curious george books at home but this is by far his most favorite, mine too!The speciality of this book is, it does not just show the alphabets like 'A' for... and 'B' for...like all other alphabet book, but it actually attempts to help observe and identify the shapes of the alphabets in a very interesting manner. I have not seen an alphabet book that does a better job than this one, this is the best!I ordered a used copy and was pleasantly surprised to receive the hard cover and an age old version which added to the classic and old effect since this book is an original by H. A. Ray. Super happy with the purchase!

Timeless fun alphabet book for Curious George lovers
I'm starting to work with my 3-year-old on her alphabet, and this is my favorite alphabet book so far. There are so many alphabet books out there, but I love the way each letter is drawn to look like an animal. I can see how it helps my daughter remember her letters. It's basically a perfect alphabet book for any curious George lover. The book has a separate illustration for each capital and each lowercase letter. Despite the fact it was written more than 50 years ago, the book is more or less timeless.

1991 Edition - great but for one issue....
Pros - Really lengthy and complete book. It has a story line and not just a list of letters of the alphabet. Shows examples of both upper and lower case letters. Having a CD to accompany it is great for preschoolers who are startling to grasp the idea of following along as a narrator reads; there is an option of page turn signals and no page turn signals. It is NOT a substitute for a parent reading to a child (is there ANY substitute for that? :) ); for a child that is reaching the age where he/she wants to be more independent, it is a great addition to that. I found it wonderful for afternoon "quiet time" (ie: child is too old for naps but needs a little time to himself to settle down a bit and unwind). The reason I docked it one star ( I debated about docking it more) is the goldfish who is "gay." As others have mentioned, that term is now more recognized for the slang meaning than the original one; it is strange that the publisher wouldn't update it. (Regardless of political or social debates, the word is not commonly used for "happy" any more, so it is a bit antiquated in that respect. Add to that that more common use of the word now, and it is not appropriate). I got the 1991 copy written book and had thought that I read it was edited in that edition, but mine was not.

Curious George Learns ABC's
My 2.5 year old loves this book. He likes Curious George and the way "The Man In The Yellow Hat" draws each letter into a picture that corresponds with the letter's initial sound adds a level of engagement! This book also highlights the letter on each page and includes upper and lower case letters. For instance the letter "A" is both upper and lowercase, all of the "A's" on the page are highlighted and the upper case "A" is an alligator (in the shape of the letter) and the lower case "a" is an apple.

This is a great book for learning both capital and lowercase letters because it goes through each letter (as the man with the yellow hat is teaching George) and covers both in a very fun way--entertaining even for adults. My second grader who is an avid reader loves it. It is not a babyish ABC book.

Wonderful
My 3-year old can't get enough of this book. I HIGHLY recommend it for young children - she loves Curious George so it captivates her attention, and uses a cute little story to teach the Alphabet. Each letter is represented by an animal, so on many levels a child will love this book while learning.

★Curious George Learns the Alphabet Book and CD
