This book is an introduction to these women, but leaves out very important details about their lives. For example, Harriet Tubman wasn't just a freedom fighter. She was a spy for Union Army and was an activist in the movement for women's suffrage. John Tubman was her first husband. She married after and adopted a baby girl. Those facts could easily be added and it would still be short. There was so much more to her life then books even hints at. There are a few other women who are missing great details. Xite Bastida, is a Mexican-CHILEAN, not just from Mexico (there is a difference and I think that should be stated). Now, I will explain why I purchased this book. My 8 year old daughter has to do a Reading Log 10-20 minutes daily and these stories looked perfect. She is slightly above her grade reading level. This book challengers a little, so she needs to look up new vocabulary words, that's great. BUT, the font is too small, we both have great eye sight. And some of the sentences are oddly put together. There is plenty of room to put more facts, which she knows is missing or at least make the font a 10/11. Side note: We listen to a podcast called, InquisiKids Daily, they tell more details about many IMPORTANT people (women) and other interesting topics in 5 minutes or less and it's free. Disappointing Book.

Love the concept and content of this book, but I didn’t realise that many of the stories included are replicated from the other Rebel Girl books, so I have deducted one star. If you do not have the other books, then this is a great book, but just be aware of the duplication if you do have the other books. Otherwise, it’s excellent!

I have loved Rebel Girls since their beginning! I supported their first book on Kickstarter and was so thrilled when it finally arrived. These books are so expertly written, each vignette packed with information in a completely relatable and bite size way. Even my 2 and 3 year old nephews can sit through a couple. And the illustrations are so full of life and adventure! These are some of my most favorite books! I have learned so much from them!

My girls keep this book in the car and read it everyday on the way to school. It is a family fave. They love learning about famous women from modern history and how they shaped our world. We ordered the hardback set because they loved this one so much.
