Where is "4 inches" measured -- from bottom of bracket or from hinge of the leg? My door is 2 inches above the floor.

The screw that holds the leg on to the bracket is 5 inches center of screw to bottom of leg if that helps you

Think 2 of these will hold a door 1/2 way open in some wind? One on each side of the door to lock it in place? Gets a bit windy here!!!

These only work for about 2 weeks each. I would not buy them.

How many inches does it stick out once attached to the door in it's upright position?

about an inch and a half in the closed upright position

Will this adjust to 7-8?

These don't really adjust... They are one length and you screw them into the bottom of the door.
