Great toy! Price check the bow AND refills!
Amazing toy. Bought one for our 7 yr old niece and played around with it. Seems to be the hotness of 2013. But let's not lose our heads, here. It is merely a reconfigured Nerf Blaster. Instead of a trigger or a pump, you pretend to release a string. Aiming is more luck than skill. Comes with five whole darts. If they really want to learn about archery, you'd be better served buying a simple 'starter' bow and arrow set for about the same price. Teaches them a skill AND not to shoot their friends! My dad taught me to shoot when I was young and it is still a fun and relaxing hobby for me. This will not teach them anything, but dang, it's fun! Some advice on the price:-This retails for abouts twenty dollars. All my local retailers were sold out, and about two hours after purchasing it from Amazon the price here more than doubled. I see a lot of annoyed shoppers giving this one star over the price and that's bad form. You don't like the price, don't buy it. Don't mislead other shoppers about this great, fun product because the vender is gouging. Amazon isn't always the best price. I've seen a few 'hot' products sold for much cheaper locally (Target, WM, TrU) and while Amazon is great for most holiday shopping, in this case, at this moment, they aren't. ALWAYS remember to price check!-Don't be suckered into buying the 'girly' refills, the ones that match the colors of the bow. They cost more than twice the price of the regular orange ones! (Now THIS is some sexist gouging!) Kids don't care what color their ammo is and not everything girls touch needs to be pink. Save some money and pick up a pack of standard Nerf refills.

Great for a 6 year old girl!
We purchased this for our 6 year old after debating wooden sets and real archery sets. We didn't want to invest too much money in a sport-quality set, and we weren't sure she had the strength for a traditional bow. This was her favorite present, by far. We were equally impressed. She was able to master the function after a few minutes. There is a little bright green ring on the string when you pull out the handle. The dart will not shot well at all unless the green ring is exposed. After we figured this out, we were able to have her shoot with much better success. We are very impressed by the quality of the product for the price. I would not have been surprised if it was double the price. We also purchase the diva bag (belt holder) and additional darts as this one only come with four or five.

A sturdy Nerf bow perfect for your daughter
As is typical of Nerf's line of dart guns, the Heartbreaker Bow is sturdily constructed and fairly easy to use. My girls (ages four and seven) can't fire the dart its maximum distance with every pull of the string -- some come out as duds -- but they are able to send enough darts soaring across my backyard that they enjoy playing with the bow.The bow only comes with five darts, and they travel far enough that they can be easy to lose, get stuck in a tree, etc. Plan on buying a refill pack of darts to go along with it.

garbage
Bought this twice - first one came with a broken string, never shot a single arrow. Second one also broke within the first two pull backs. My daughter is eight, not Hercules. This product is complete plastic garbage - my bad for thinking the first one was a fluke. Missed the second return window by one day, so just ATE $50. Cannot believe they have the nerve to charge that much money. So angry. Do not purchase. JUNK - JUNK - JUNK.

Awesome
So glad that Nerf came out with this Rebelle line of toys. I know that girls could very easily play with the "boy toys" and my daughter did, but as much as she loves to shoot stuff, she does like stuff that looks cool & is designed for her. This entire line (or what we have used so far) is a great combination of being stylish & cool for little girls AND being functional & working. The bow is easy to shoot for my 6 year old, it took one try for her to get down & goes further & shoots better & more accurately than I expected.

Fun but broke immediately
This toy was a lot of fun for 2 shots then the string wouldn't retract anymore. My daughter was very disappointed because she was so excited to get this for Christmas. I'm returning it and have ordered a replacement in hopes that this problem won't repeat itself because it is otherwise a very cool toy. I was disappointed when I tried to exchange it for the same item on amazon that I was not allowed to do so. I had to return it for a refund and reorder it but the price had increased from what I originally paid for it. I feel I should have been allowed an even exchange for the same item. The item was less expensive in another color so I'm replacing it with that.

not what she was expecting
My daughter has been begging for this for months. So she can learn how to use a bow and arrow like her dad. Well she was all excited to try the dart wouldn't even move. We assumed she wasn't doing it right so we began trying. Once we sorted things out and actually got the dart to fire it literally on average goes about a foot and done. After multiple attempts the best we have gotten is five feet. We were originally going to buy our daughter every style bow available but now we definitely will not be doing it.

5 & 6 year old daughters LOVE the bow...
purchased two of these and they are having a great time running around the backyard with them. I was concerned the 5 year old wouldn't be able to use it well, but she is doing fine. The dart definitely doesn't fly really far but she is getting the hang of it. I will admit, we haven't put up a target for them yet so I don't know how difficult it would be to shoot accurately. They love How to Train Your Dragon so this gift was in addition to DVDs, helmets and stuffed dragons. Also purchased with the accessory bag they wear around their waist.
