Decent for the price
It does what it is advertised to do, and it does it adequately well considering the price (around $30 at the time of writing). A couple of caveats:Unless you are moving, the direction to your last checkpoint (the arrow on the screen, telling you which was to walk) may not be accurate. This little guy has a crappy compass, and so can only really tell which direction you are facing based on differences between your current position and your last few positions. The compass is (like most cheap electronic compasses, which are based on sensitive electronic magnetometers) quite unreliable. It works OK out of doors (where it is away from rebar and steel in walls, and electrical circuitry) but is still nowhere near as reliable as a real, analog compass. That said, this thing will get you where you need to go to within maybe 10 or 20 meters on a side. Not bad!

Bushnell Personal Navigator - Mixed Results.
Mixed results. This item is very easy to use. It does its basic job, which is to point you at the place you marked and get you within 15 yards of it. This is fine for locating your car in a huge parking lot. But you will have problems finding your way in a parking garage or indoor mall, where you cannot get GPS signals. Also, the compass function is unsatisfactory. It will keep seeking north, but never really find it. If you take a bunch of readings trying to find north, you can eventually average all the numerous varying pointings and come up with rough "north." Some of these pointings will be 180o off, though, so it takes a while to average them and figure out where approximate north is. Yes, this device does it job, but I think one would be better off carrying a small notepad to jot down notes or a rough map of where the car is parked.

Questionable Quality
I think Bushnell needs to reevaluate this item and how to handle complaints. Although I have other GPS units,I purchased this item because of its small size and in spite of some bad reviews. I know some individuals don't bother reading directions, (a must due with GPS units), and I expected that a lot of bad reviews stemed from these individuals. However, I found that the first problem was generated by Bushnell's poor instructions that come with the unit. There is no mention of moving the unit in a figure 8 direction to help in the unit's orientation, but if you contact tech support it is one of their first suggestions. I used this unit on property I know well and discovered it consistantly pointed 25 to 30 degrees to the left of my destination. While the unit would get me in the general direction, it was certainly far enough off to cause major problems had I not been familar with the property. I even had a time where I could clearly see my destination from about one mile away and this deviation could have caused a big problem had I relied on the unit's information.I finally ended up returning the unit to Bushnell for a replacement. The replacement unit is very sporadic in its accuracy and often acts like the unit I retrurned. Not sure if a bad design of if the Bushnell employees did not bother to check out the replacement unit to ensure I would not have continued problems. In any case the experience has certainly dropped my opinion of Bushnell and not sure if I will consider their products in the future.
