Product Description Two unique comic talents, Academy Award(r) nominee Peter Sellers (Best Actor in a Leading Role Being There, 1979 and Dr. Strangelove: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb, 1964) and AcademyAward(r) winner Goldie Hawn (Best Actress in a Supporting Role Cactus Flower, 1969), join forces in asaucy romance about an amorous gourmet whose goose is cooked when he falls for a giddy young temptress. Robert Danvers (Peter Sellers), a TV cooking expert who moonlights as a self-styled Casanova, runs into cheerfully amoral Marion (Goldie Hawn), who's been ejected by her boyfriend from their flat. After Robert installs Marion in his London love nest, he pursues her with complete incompetence and gets more than he bargained for. This not-so-dumb blonde outrages his palate and shatters his macho veneer. When Marion's boyfriend begs her to come back, Robert has a choice'sharing Marion or losing her. Sellers humor added to Hawn's zaniness makes one delicious comedy. .com The best that can be said for There's a Girl in My Soup is that it is not quite as bad as its reputation. A belly flop in the careers of Peter Sellers and Goldie Hawn (she was fresh off her Oscarยฎ for Cactus Flower), this Boulting brothers production did nothing to showcase the sparkling comic talents of those two performers. Sellers has some nice moments early as a famous TV-host twit, whose career as a serial seducer is halted after meeting hippie chick Goldie. It's one double-entendre after another: "You only want one thing," says one of Sellers's conquests. "Yes, but what a lovely thing," he sighs. Seen now, the movie is most fun for its goofy look at the gestalt of swinging London: Sellers' automated bachelor pad was surely an inspiration to the Austin Powers folks, and his checkered beige suit must be seen to be believed. --Robert Horton

Funny romantic comedy, Goldie Hawn carried this film
A different perspective of Sellers, as in USA we mostly think of him as Clouseau. Oddly this film seems that as Robert Danvers, a cheesy lothario, there is a lot of Sellers himself in the character, at least as we perceive Sellers from historical reflection. Goldie Hawn was fantastic. A definite must watch in the Sellers canon of films.

Great fashion
I wanted this movie for the 60s fashion but the story also turned out to be entertaining

Goldie Hawn is always worth watching.
Peter Sellers is a great actor but he should have been the supporting role. Goldie Hawn carried most of this movie thank goodness. All of her older movies are worth watching if you get a chance.

A True Wine and Food Lover's Gem!
This film is one of the top ten Wine and Food Lover's films of all time, especially if you're a wine-lover, since there are so few good wine movies out there! It's a classic! Goldie is great as Marian, the young girl who goes on a wine tasting trip to the Loire Valley in France with British "food critic/playboy" Robert Danvers, played by the suave Peter Sellers (they should've shaved his back first--that was not very appetizing nor was it very sexy!) Instead of tasting, she drinks it all--"Why waste it?" she says. Only to get so drunk, she knocks over an entire wall of wine while standing in a wine cave and poor Peter Sellers has to pay for it all. Hilarity at its finest! I love this movie, I've always loved this movie and I can't wait to get a DVD copy of it.

Charming Rom-Com
This is a terrifically engaging May-December romance picture about a middle aged lothario (Peter Sellers) who begins to question his value system when he embarks on an affair with an outspoken hippie chick(Goldie Hawn) in swinging London. Sellers and Hawn are wonderful together and there is a discernible screen chemistry between them. My only qualm with the film is that it's central message throughout is to extol the virtues of romance and fidelity but the ending negates that for one of promiscuity.

Mindless retro fun.
Goofy 60โs romp. Good fun. Goldie Hawn is adorable.

sleeper
A real sleeper. I had expected a deadly "cute" frolic typical of the era, but the movie is charming, unpredictable and anything but cliched. I couldn't have imagined there'd be any chemistry between Sellers and Hawn, but there is, and it's delightful. It's not necessary to brace yourself for a pat ending -- it isn't there. Hollywood took a holiday on this one.

witty and cheesey in a perfect pairing of comedy.
I liked the acting and characters very much. The costumes and setting were in good taste. Very 70s.

Cheesy Rider
A great film it isn't, but highly watchable just the same. What makes it fascinating is that Sellers' character of a cheesy seducer seems so close to the image we have of the man. Presenting himself with the chance to make a new life with the sassy, sexy, much younger Marion - a wonderful turn from Goldie Hawn - gourmet and charmer Robert Danvers goes clean out of his comfort zone. The comedy of innuendoes and crossed wires doesn't flag. And there's real pathos in the neurotic, temperamental edge Sellers gives his character: the vulnerability that lies beneath the charm. Odd that a man we think of as an iconic sixties star was perhaps already out of date when the sixties came along.

Peter Sellers doing the breast-stroke?
Leonard Maltin disliked this hilariously-funny film, featuring a long series of incidents in which serial-sexual-athlete Robert Danvers (Peter Sellers as a TV chef) hopping in-and-out of various beds in double-quick time. Racy, down-to-earth British humour is clearly not to Maltin's Transatlantic taste. Goldie Hawn is as innocently delicious as ever, while the supporting cast play their parts with great aplomb.
