Avoiding the Gold splatter, try combing your rug with a wide toothed comb, then a fine toothed comb, and then a horse-style brush if it still needs help. Once the matting is resolved, vacuum the rug with the hose attachement only, or on your vacuum's floor setting only, without the beater bar if your vacuum does not have a hose attachement. You may also want to shake your rug clean as much as possible instead of or in addition to vacuuming moving forward.

Does this rug have gold paint splatter design?

Yes. I love it though. There are definite color variations in the "fur" color. And, there are added gold splatters. I use it as a desk chair mat. It's held up very well. Hope that helps.
