Great tool for checking voltage. Bought it for the toolbox in the bed of my pickup. I didn't buy a full blown multimetrer because they need batteries. It'll sit in the tool box for many months till I need it and the batteries would be dead or leaking with my luck.I use it to check voltage in the field or when I'm not home in my workshop. Probes are the right length, caps come off if you need more length to check a tamper resistant outlet. Basically foolproof. Lights up with the correct voltage on a scale.Be sure to test on a known live outlet before each use.
