It's maroon. Definitely not bright or orange.

The alcott Retractable Leah is made in China in a factory overlooked by a US company that develops, designs and distributes the leash. All our products have a 2 year warranty.

Q: Is it possible to open and clean? That is separate the two halves?

I've removed the screws and taken the leash apart to fix a jammed retractable leash so I suppose you could do so to clean it. I wouldn't make a habit of doing so. Be careful when opening because the leash is spring loaded.

Q: What size should i buy for a 10lb maltese

My dog is about 9lbs and I got the smallest one available. Works great and I like the compact feel. I would get a bigger size if you have an above average hand size.
