Roland OctaCapture USB 2.0 Audio Interface

This is a really nice solid interface, compact with a lot of features. This is my second Octa-Capture. The first one worked very well for about 4 years, then recently started malfunctioning. Hopefully, I'll have better luck with this one. Overall, I recommend this unit.

I love this interface. I use my V-synth connected to it via digital coax connecton, which is probably the best way, after lots of research. I'm hearing new details in my sound in the high end. It has better converters than my instrument. I'm used to direct connecting the V-synth to monitors or connecting to a mac with optical. But this unit and my new set up is better. I have no complaints in the sound. There are a few menu screens. This has onboard reverb, compressors, Hi-Z, Phantom power and stuff that will make life easier. I am a previous user of Edirol UA-101, Tapco Firewire, and TC Electronics. This is incredible.Some notes: You can use the Phones / Main switch on the front to "mute" your mains. You must hold the power button to boot it up. I don't notice thump when powering up, and there is a little bit of noise when powering off. It does save your preferences when you power it off. The installation was a little annoying on my mac. I had to do it twice and give it permissions, but then it has continued to work. I'm using USB 2.0. I hope Roland continues to support this unit on the mac. It isn't plug and play as far as I can tell. Right now I have the latest MAC OS and it works reliably and I'm happy. This is probably the best unit in this price range. I have not tested the mic inputs, but I'm sure its fine. This has more capabilities than I will use everyday, but I'm glad its there when I need it. MADE IN JAPAN.
