This renders the purpose of a belt - to distribute weight from your shoulders pretty much mute. The pack is also small - I am 6', and the waist belt actually comes across low chest, not my waist. The inner room is ok and the actual material, while stiff, seems sturdy. MOLLE strips are solid and well placed. So, if you want a regular day pack and can do without a waist belt, this is not a bad pick.
