This is a good set for someone who wants a barbell, dumbbells and a kettle bell without having to buy a bunch of different equipment. The set consists of 16 sand-filled plastic disks (of various sizes/weights), two short dumbbell bars, one foam covered "connector" (which converts the dumbbell bars into a bar bell), and a pin and rings/handles to create a kettle bell. The best thing about this is that everything screws together easily so there isn't a lot of time and effort involved in converting from one type of equipment to another (something that always discouraged me from using my BowFlex machine). The kit includes an instruction book which explains how to assemble the pieces as well as providing several pages of simple [mostly upper body] exercises.

Being such a versatile set, that allows to change dumbbell bars to a long bar, or dumbbell bars with kettlebell handles gives plenty of options when exercising. And talking about kettlebell, the set comes with two handles but only one base or mount to put plates, so you can only used one true “kettlebell setup” and maybe use a dumbbell bar with the other kettlebell handle if feeling creative.It is true the downside is the time it takes to attach the dumbbell bars to the main bar, which takes a long time to do, but at least you have the option without having an extra piece of equipment.When it comes to the plates, they are made of plastic, which seem to be kind of thin, since I noticed one of the plates bulking up on one side, where the filling was accumulating. Squeezing them confirms they are thin and flexible, which could at some point cause them to break if not careful.When it comes to value for money, based on what I just described, I think I would prefer this set to be a little cheaper.

Home gym in a box is how I would describe this dumbbell set, all the weights, bars, accessories and a couple of niceties like a pair of sweat bands and workout gloves (of questionable quality) to get you started.Build quality for now is good, but I could tell they were filled with sand because there was a fair amount of sand in the packaging when I was opening and removing the contents. Let's hope this was some spill over from the factory packaging process and not from the actual weights themselves, if it's from the weights, the long term for these may be in question.Over I'm satisfied with this dumbbell set as they were needed to kick start my at home workout regime. Let's hope both of us will go the distance.Recommended.
