Great for the price. Even better for people who need fine volume control for sleeping.
Sony earbuds are always my go-to, and have been reliable for near on 15 years now. They are comfortable and due to the earbud function the sound quality is very good and is noise-cancelling, especially for the price! Eventually because the earbuds are corded and if you use it heavily (and sometimes carelessly snag it on things, like me) the wires will break and one earbud will stop functioning. It's okay with earbuds, because you can just snip off that earbud and continue using the other one, which you can't do with headsets. For this specific model -- I love this one the most so far. It has a mic to answer your phone calls, a button to click for answering calls and to pause/start music, and MOST IMPORTANT, a dial-type volume adjuster, not the up/down button type. This is great for me as I use these earbuds the most for background noise and to help me sleep (hence just one functioning earbud is fine). I use them for audiobooks, podcasts, and music. When I'm trying to sleep I like to turn down the volume as much as possible, which means lower than the lowest setting on my phone, which the dial enables but volume buttons do not. Another perk of this model, which may or may not be a perk for others, is that the adjusting slider for wire length is ABOVE the mic/button array so you can slide it all the way up for use in only one ear -- this is important, because if the other earbud is swinging loose while you're going about your day (when you have to listen to your tunes but still able to hear things going on around you) it will snag and break more easily. Weirdly, this is a design that isn't always universal!Nowadays, for daytime use I use bluetooth earbuds which reduces the chances for snagging and wear and tear, and I use these earbuds almost exclusively for sleeping or if my BT earbuds run out of charge. With this kind of use I can get more than a year or two out of these before a wire breaks/earbud stops working. Honestly, more and more often I wind up buying another simply because I lost it, not because it broke. For the cost these earbuds are a great bargain, and I hope Sony never stops producing them even if BT is the future of headphones.

Better than most other earbuds I've used
I bought three of these headsets for home and office use. They combine great sound reproduction and quality construction, which is important to me because I tend to go through cheaply-made earbuds pretty quickly. I have a pair at work that I use on both my desktop computer and my iPhone. The microphone's sensitivity is superb: I no longer get complaints from people I call saying they can't hear me clearly. I also use a set to plug into my iPhone when I want to fall asleep to my own music; the cord-to-speakers-to-plug connections are strong enough I don't worry about damaging the connections even if the cords get tangled when I roll over. The soft-plastic ear inserts (three different sizes are included) fit my ears perfectly, which is important to me because the inserts of other earbuds were very uncomfortable and actually caused skin irritation after prolonged use. The on-off switch and the volume adjustment knobs are sufficiently low-profile that I don't accidentally actuate them. Overall, these earbuds are a good example of Sony quality.

Does not include skip button
This product was described as having a volume control, microphone, and play/pause/skip buttons. There is only the single context sensitive button, so it acts as play/pause. There is no button for skip. The volume control is analog as expected - you need to turn up the volume on your device to around 80-90% of maximum, and then the control on the headphones can turn it down in the headphones (not on the device itself) and cannot turn it up. The controls and the microphone are located at the Y-joint where the wire splits, meaning that the microphone is located far down my shirt and nowhere near my mouth. I expect it to pick up large amounts of ambient noise including the sound of rubbing against my shirt, so I do not plan to actually use the microphone for conversations. In addition, the location means it is impossible to use the controls while worn under a sweatshirt or jacket. In all, disappointing, not worth the $5 cheaper than the newer model.

Not the best sound...
Not the best sound quality, but the mic works, the buttons work, works well with my iPhone, and has multiple sized earbuds, which is a must for me because I have small ears. I wish the sound quality was a little better, but it is passable and all the other options are great.

however the ear buds are comfy and the color is fun and easy to notice
The volume is nothing to write home about, however the ear buds are comfy and the color is fun and easy to notice.Sony makes some really high quality speakers/headphone. Given the price, these seem fairly decent.I'd have given a 4 if the volume control worked more smoothly, and a 5 is the comfort and sound quality was great. Still, for the price range, I think its a reasonable product, and I'd recommend it within that price range.
