Wet & Forget and 800003 And Moss Mold Mildew Alga

I visited the grave of my great great great grandmother, an early Texas pioneer woman bonrn in 1805, and wanted to clean it without damaging it, to preserve it for more generations. The moss that grows on them looks cool, but destroys the stone and erases the writing. I live 3 hours away, so I purchased this to apply when I was traveling through the area. I sprayed it down with the wet and forget and left it. I don't recall if i did any gentle scrubbing. I was pleasantly surprised how much better it looked when i came back over a year later. You can see how much of a dramatic overall change was made. You can see the effect on the tomb to the right I also sprayed down. All you have to do is spray it down thoroughly and leave it to do the work, anyone can do it. Rough scrubbing and harsh chemicals(not this product) can damage these and obscure the writingI like this container because you can refill the spray bottles.This visit i sprayed them down thoroughly again and gently scrubbed the thick mossy areas. I'll try to post follow up videos when i get back down there in a year or so.

Product is good overall but if you are looking for an immediate solution - pressure clean the porous bricks if HOA is giving you a tight deadline to complete. This can take a week to a month to really work.

I bought this last year and was doing another area of my north facing roof this afternoon, so thought I should write a review. As my title indicates, you must apply this correctly. The key is to use as fine a mist as possible on the roof. Keep going back over and over the section so that it's saturated, taking time so that it's not running down in rivulets. I say this because my sprayer clogged up last year and the area that I did the fine mist on was unbelievably brighter, with less lichen/moss this summer. The part where I ended up doing a heavier stream didn't really lighten up the same. The lightened/clean part was even under the big pine tree, which causes as much darkness, lichen, and moss as being north facing.In addition, I had my roofer over this summer to do some nail pops and such on the roof. He was amazed at how light the area that worked actually turned out. He took a look at the bottle and said he was glad to find a product to recommend to the many clients who ask about how to get the darkness and lichen/moss off the roof.Did it remove 100% of the lichen/moss? No, but it was incredible the amounts that it did remove --- all without destroying the integrity of twenty year old shingles. I don't know of any other process that would remove the dark staining, lichen, or moss that wouldn't harm the shingles, so that's why I give it 5-stars.I did a "do-over" on the still dark area and also a north facing porch roof this afternoon. By next summer, they should look pretty darn good. Pick a calm day and do water any plants that get over-spray. I had no problem with the shrubs below the area I worked on last year, after doing a quick bucket or so of water on the branches. The product is not tasty, so make sure your body is at the appropriate angle to the roof, to avoid the spray coming down on your face. I have to use a ladder, as the roof is pitched to steep to stand on, so I'm below the spray area. I will be purchasing more of this product. It is NOT instant, but it works and is easy to apply with patience.

I had used this product a few years ago and simply loved it. One tends to forget about it as the results are not instantaneous as this is a long working product. I bought it because our vinyl guttering and porch railings had gotten quite black with mildew. This is truly a wet and forget product as it is mixed with water in a sprayer (this jug makes 3 gal.) and then quite literally you forget it. It takes several months to slowly work but work it does. The black gradually fades away things look so much better. I did some experimenting to see just how good the product works as I sprayed a section leaving a few feet not sprayed. It's amazing to see that line of demarcation of the renewed and not. This is not a bleach product so there is no fear of it hurting or eating away at any building materials and for this reason it is to be left on to dry...NO rinsing. I even sprayed it on my driveway where there was black streaking and it make the concrete look like new. The product says it can be sprayed on roofing materials that have the black streaking syndrome but that isn't something that plagues us so did not try out that aspect of it.This is a very simply and easy product to use and although quite expensive,does a very nice . Directions say to repeat it in six months which is why I purchased another container of it. I have a lot of white vinyl fencing that I'm going to tackle this summer but will require another couple orders of this. Very very happy with Wet and Forget.

This is not a miracle product. Perhaps it depends on the type of moss or mildew you have, but after I used this it still took me a few hours to scrub it off of the roof of my shed. Full disclosure, the shed was terrible- when we bought our house, we noticed that they obviously had not done anything about the shed in several years so it had been building up for a while. Our inspector recommended this, so I gave it a shot. To use it, I had to buy a sprayer, so that was another $25. Okay, a good household investment. The directions are slightly terrifying- you don't want to get this on your eyes/ skin/ clothes/ pets. Be careful. When I first sprayed it on the shed, the moss actually plumped up and became greener. For about 2 days it looked like I was GROWING moss, but then it began to turn brown and die. Unfortunately, I could not just forget about it...I literally just had a roof of dead brown moss and mildew that was stuck on there. The inspector said to give it a week and it would likely just 'fall off'. Nope. Nothing fell off...it was uglier than before. It required hours of scrubbing with a scrub brush. The whole time I knew I was scrubbing moss that had been soaked with dangerous chemicals as well which was not great. In the end, the moss did come off my shed and it looks a million times better, but the product does not live up to its name. Perhaps it will be better now for preventative care.
