This book retells the story of the zodiac from Chinese mythology. In the story, the Jade Emperor invites the animals to a race to see which ones will get to be part of the zodiac.The book is written in English and Chinese (simplified or traditional, depending on which you select) and Pinyin.The illustrations are cute and colorful!I think this will be one of our new favorites!

This beautifully illustrated book is the cutest version I have seen of the traditional Chinese tale of how the animals of the zodiac were chosen. Kids (and their parents) will love reading this book! AND it is written in English, Chinese and Pinyin pronunciation - so everyone, from those who know no Chinese to those who are fluent in Chinese, can enjoy this book! Highly recommend!

This is a great book in English, Chinese characters and Pinyin. In it, you'll learn how the Zodiac animals came to be (and why cat and rat are enemies to this day). The only complaint is that in English they refer correctly as "rat" then change the word to "mouse" - which is a typo and not a zodiac animal.

I'm very happy that I came across this book. I'm not very fluent in reading Chinese characters, so the pin yin in this book is very helpful. The illustration of this book is also fun and whimsical. My daughter loves it! The book helps her learn new vocabularies and connect with our Chinese culture. It's a classic children's storybook that reminds me of Chinese New Year celebrations with the family.

The illustrations are wonderful, but not horrible. The translation is on spot. Great price for a home collection.

What a cute little children’s book! The story is delightful, and the images are so adorable! I really like how each page lays out the combo of the Chinese, pinyin and English in a very simple way so I can learn Chinese easily!

My daughter loves the illustrations, so vibrant! Her favorite part is when the rooster, monkey, and goat work together to cross the river. I’m not a native Chinese speaker but the pinyin helps a lot. The free audio reading also helped us with pronunciation. Please write more stories!

Very cute book. My kid loves it. The way the Chinese, pinyin, and English words are organized are good. I now wish there was a hardcover version for durability.
