The wheel diameter is about 2 1/2”

Q: why are there no spring clips to lock the wheels in the socket to prevent them from falling out when chair is lifted?

My office chairs didn't have a spring clip. Pulled the old wheels off (little bit hard to pull). These new wheels went in with ease and fit perfectly.
