This is high quality foam. It has a slightly grippy surface, so it really stays put when placed on finished wood (or within a case). We are using this on the bare slats of a futon, on the seat part to improve the comfort of the futon when it is used as a sofa. Our futon happens to be a perfect fit for this, and because of the grippy texture, the pad stays put under the futon mattress. (The futon mattress is really just for the kids when guests use their rooms, so this pad makes the futon into a great, super comfortable sofa. All in all, the good quality foam was just the right size to improve our futon without the need to buy a heavier futon mattress. I only wish I knew how to sew so I could make a slip case for it!

If you are like me, you've been reading through all this info about density, and compression, and so forth trying to decide which size and type cushion might work best for your project. The specs provide a good bit of info, but not necessarily all that useful unless one already has some experience with these things. I certainly didn't - the cushions I recall from the 70s squished flat as soon as any weight at all hit them. So perhaps my experience will help your decision. I have a power recliner in which I spend a good bit of time due to disability. I'm a big guy, weighing in at 275 lbs. As much as I love my 1.5x-usual-width chair, it could have been padded much better. It was causing me pain and skin irritations. I looked at the price of new, better chairs then soon began looking at cushions. After much confusion, I finally decided I'd just have to try one, and go from there. Because I am heavy, I worried that many of these cushions might not be up to the task. I almost decided upon one of the 4" sizes but worried that it might not want to fit the chair properly. This three-inch one seemed right. I could not have chosen any better. This is a firm cushion, and supports weight easily. And comfortably. They rate it as density 1.8, 36lb compression. If you want soft, look for a little lower compression weight. I know they call this medium density, but I can't imagine anyone wanting a cushion firmer than this one, and I like firm. Chances are that you will be happy with this cushion. If it were something I was going to lay on a hard, flat surface to sleep on, then the 4" makes sense, and I'd consider it. For my recliner needs, this 3" was the right choice. I needed a cushion for my facial bed and these worked out perfectly. I needed to shape them to my facial bed and was able to cut the cushion to shape. This cushion added so much more comfort , no complaints here. They are much more affordable than other cushions.

I returned this product because it was too thick for my needs, but it was a solid foam and did provide comfort and extra cushion needed. I just purchased the wrong thickness but otherwise it was good for extra padding on sofa.

I'm very impressed! I got this because the loveseat cushions I bought are too flat. I bought this long cushion to put under my thin ones.This certainly does the trick! It is nice and smushy, now. I'm still not sure what "density" refers to. I wanted to get high quality foam, and what I read seems to imply the higher the density, the better quality the foam. I wanted a cushy foam, and high density makes me think that it would be too firm. I got medium density, and I'm glad I did. I was very happy that THERE IS NO SMELL! I was dreading having to open the box and getting hit with that horrible rubber/chemical smell. Then the house would stink for days while it aired out. That didn't happen! It was fine right out of the box. Per directions, I let it sit out for a day to regain it's shape. I liked it so much, I'm getting another one. I'm ditching the original, uncomfortable cushions.

I bought this 2 inch foam to use as an additional layer on top of the cheap stuffing inside my dogs floor beds. I have large breeds and their comfort is top priority. This worked perfect. It was easy to cut with both a serrated knife and my large scissors. The best part is it had absolutely no chemical smell or I would have sent it right back. I was able to pad their beds and bolsters on the beds so they are very comfortable. It was less expensive here than buying it a the craft and sewing store.

This 24" foam fit perfectly on my chair bed that is 26" wide. The chair was very firm but with this foam on top, it makes lying on it more comfortable. The product works as expected.
