Sound of Africa

I worked over forty years in Africa so the purchase of this disc was an exercise in sentimental memory. Strangely enough I do not remember many of the songs but this may be personal to me since what I remember tend to be what she was singing about apartheid.However this judgement should not be taken too serious. She is a wonderful singer and did much to represent the African point of view. I look forward to listening more to her when I have more leisure, Meanwhile I prefer the songs that were popular in Britain and America at the time like Diana Ross and Boney M. as did my African students. Still Makeba is well worth listening to and something different even for the casual listener.

This is a three CD set & i love it! Can't wait to load CD's in my car & go for a nice long drive!

Great collection of hits. This artist is new to me and I found listening to 3 CDs of her music a wonderful experience. Seller sent product promptly and in good condition.

A big collection of lots of Miriam for a small price. Would have preferred more African and fewer top 40 sounding songs, but there's plenty here for everybody. Too bad Mama Africa is no longer with us.

I ordered the wrong one, I was not familiar with any of the songs and gave it to someone as a gift.

I loved the songs in this three CD compilation album.

Wonderful collection!

I ordered several of Makeba's albums...I love her music, having grown up in Africa. Unfortunately, all thealbums have pretty much the same songs on them!

Love this CD. My music collection is definitely improving. My neighbour used to play her LPs on Sundays. What she used to listened we used to listened. Her voice is so pure and beautiful!

Best collection of CDs I have bought for ages. So varied. Don't hesitate just buy it especially if like me you are 67 years old.

Wonderful blast from the past. One of a kind musicals. I don't like musicals usually, but I do like this one, but maybe you had to be there to fully appreciate.
