What would happen if I use this on a light oak cabinet that has a polyurethane finish?

I’d imagine you’d have to sand these first. I used this on raw cabinets and it came out beautiful. Baseboards too. I wouldn’t think the stain would adhere to wood if you had a finish already on it.

I wouldn’t ruin your piece with putting food on it, and if you were to have a piece you’d like to serve food on, I’d suggest you seal it with a topcoat and therefore you’d have to choose one that is food grade safe… hope this helps
