Little Witch Hazel: A Year in the Forest

Each of my three kids loves to read this book and my two year old will honestly spend a full 20 minutes by herself in a corner quietly flipping through the pages staring at the illustrations. For me, I love the seasonal aspect of the stories/illustrations, even to the details of the little witches outfit with each season. I also love the lessons to be learned -Slow down and enjoy life, sometimes the scariest people are simply that way because they’re just a little bit lonely and sad, and the love and care you invest into others will come back to you, often in your darkest hour.

Beautiful book. Me and my 5 year old cry happy tears at the end every time! Also, was great Halloween inspo for me as I dressed as little witch hazel. I plan on gifting this book to all of my daughters friends on their birthday for the next several years. Such a beautiful and meaningful story.

I follow Phoebe on Instagram and when I saw this book, I wanted to get it for my four year old. I absolutely adore the main character. My daughter's favorite story from the book is the one about the haunted stump.

We love Phoebe Wahl and have been eagerly awaiting the release of this book with our pre-order. We were beyond excited to see it on the doorstep tonight and suffice to say it did not disappoint. The illustrations are simply magical and the text is subtly profound. All three of my young children were begging me to re-read it before bedtime. It brought so much joy to the whole family that it was easy to oblige their request.

This book is pure magic. I teach at a forest school and since we received it a few weeks ago it has become a new favorite. The season stories are fast but filled with information. The characters are rich. The setting is a place I wish we could visit.

This is my family's favorite picture book of the year. Split into 4 seasonal stories, Little Witch Hazel is the perfect folklore-y fairy story for families who want their fairies to look magical, but not like Barbie. All my children love this book (8,6,4) and it is a joy to read.

So sweet and cute. Purchased for a three year old obsessed with witches and fantasy creatures. The text on each page is just enough to hold her interest, the pictures are so sweet and engaging, and the storyline is charming and wholesome. Love love love the map of the woods. Beautifully done. I will be looking into this author's other books. Highly recommend.

This book is absolutely beautiful. With a story for each season, it makes for a must have book to read all year long.

I bought this book for my 5 year old daughter - it was a HUGE hit from the first read. The stories are darling and the illustrations are wonderful - I really enjoyed reading this to my daughter who immediately wanted to play out the tales from the book!! A triumph Phoebe - Bravo!!

A brilliantly vibrant story with a charming cast of characters and wonderfully atmospheric illustrations

I really dislike the artstyle of this book. I expected it to be beautiful and it's actually ugly and frightening. I do NOT recommend any parents or teachers applying any Steiner/Waldorf education to show this to their kids. I despised the globalist feeling applied to the native European paradigm. It is absolutely not like Tove's writings and the stories are unremarkable and unmemorable. I really thought it was going to be cute and sweet but compared to Elsa Beskow and Tove, this is a nightmare.

Es el libro más bonito que he comprado este año. Lo compré en preventa en verano y han tardado más de un mes en traérmelo después de que se publicase, supongo que hay pocos ejemplares. Pero aparte de eso y hablando del libro en sí, ha sido amor a primera vista. Si pudiera conseguir más, se los regalaría a todas las personas que conozco. Con o sin criaturas, es un regalo para la vista.
