Excellent Way to Attach a Light or Bipod to the Forward Sling Stud
I needed to mount a light to my 10/22 to give the dog some protection during her Zero Dark 30 piddles. Our spread in rural Florida is nicely sized, so there are no legal concerns. The Ruger's American-ish stock only had a forward sling stud as an available attachment point; the Caldwell Pic Rail Adapter Plate promised to add a small Picattiny Rail using that sling stud. The Adapter was mounted no more than twenty-five minutes after Amazon delivered it (and a lot of that time was looking for my T-Handled star wrenches.) The adapter proved to be well designed and very solid. The instructions were clearly written and complete, if I had chosen to use them. As an unexpected benefit, the rail cants 5-10(?) degrees vertically to allow it to parallel the bore axis. The Cadwell Pic Rail Adapter is eminently practical way to attach a light (or bipod) to the forward sling stud. It works well and looks professional, and the ability to cant the rail is a real benefit when using a light. All in all, it's an excellent solution to an annoying problem, and a very good value for the money. My only (very small) concern is that at 2.4 ozs, it's a little chonky. Would I buy again? Hells, yes; I'm already looking at buying another one.

STURDY AS A DRY COUNTRY POST
EASY-PEASY installation and ROCK solid once properly mounted. CALDWELL is a well-known name brand for the gun enthusiast and their "Caldwell Pic Rail Adaptor Plate" is further evidence in providing expected quality, durability, and usefulness of their products. Combined with an "Uncle Mike's Forearm Post" on my project airgun (Crosman Ratcatcher .22 cal), I can now utilize a quality bipod fixture to tighten up my groupings. Caldwell knocked this one way out of the country pasture! NO MORE RABID empty beer cans to worry about with this product. EXTREMELY PLEASED with this purchase and item arrived like a .338 on a 600 yd. bear....nothin' flat! The arm strap "thingy" is a REAL hoot and I LOVE that it was incorporated into the engineering design! One product, TWO very useful purposes!! Let's go find us another RABID empty beer/ bear can, WE ARE READY! ($20 bucks is twenty bucks, RIGHT??)

Very versatile
I mounted this on a Ruger American. I needed to replace a bi pod and the choices for picatinny rail mounts are better and less expensive. Took just a few minutes to install and I am very happy with it. Will be ordering 2 more for my other hunting rifles.

Very good adapter, sturdy design, swivel stud tends to swing back and forth
I just attached this to my CZ 455 in probably 2 minutes. It attaches perfectly and I am now able to attach bipods that use the picatinny rails (e.g. Atlas style bipods). The construction of the design is great, and so far, I don't notice any scratching on the wood of my rifle. There is no looseness or play in the attachment design. I attached a picatinny bipod on this rail and there is no issue whatsoever. My only complaint that I might have is that the swivel stud that is on the adapter is very loose so if you don't carry your rifle with a sling, the stud will tend to swing back and forth create some noise. You have to rock your rifle back and forth a little bit, but if you happen to be hunting or you want a quiet rifle in general, this swivel stud might be a little annoying. I can probably wedge something in there to make it stop moving though so it's not a big issue. Overall, great design and great adapter!

Needs an update
Easy install, seems built well. The pin for the sling eyelet will fall out or can be pushed out with little to no effort. "Common problem" per Caldwell rep. I replaced the pin with a 4/40 allen head screw. Not ideal fixing one that was a month old and updating a brand new one before installing but, should be a long term fix. Other then that one problem, I like this product.

I give it 90 of 100
So let’s start with the misconceptions from other reviews If your rifle has a sling mount, it’ll fit. Period. The directions are non existent though! This is why it took me forever to figure it out and a lot of people think it doesn’t fit. So that part is annoying but it’s insanely sturdy and easy to take on and off once you figure it out! You have to take the whole assembly apart, then mount the whole thing backward basically, otherwise the pin will not reach the hole of your sling mount. Once you have the pin in, you have to hold it in place while you pull the rubberized part over and place the other piece in-between, then screw down on the other two screws until the pin is secure. Then you can mess with leveling the pic rail. This is the biggest con: the Pic Rail cannot be leveled with the barrel as advertised without making it completely unstable. If you can compensate for that though, with other adapters or tools (like I did) it’s very sturdy and also very useful (since you aren’t actually giving up your sling!). All in all: it’s nearly perfect but the things I’ve mentioned are definitely things you need to know before buying
