Does not colour the roots.
Tried it twice on clean and damp hair. First time kept it for 10-15 min, second time for longer circa 20-25 min to see if it would work. Waste of money.

Left it for 20 mins and it has low gray coverage
Have to try it and leave for at least 30 mins hoping to get better coverage. The applicator brush is great and the tube can be used twice, coverage wise is not great but will give it another try and revise again, possibly with black color as I got the dark brown and is not enough for black hair

Good for Covering and Toning
I stripped black dye out of my hair and dyed it light brown. It was really brassy, so I used this to cover that. It worked perfectly. I wet my hair, applied one tube, left it on for 25 min, rinsed it out and used a little color safe conditioner. All the brassiness is gone. I'll probably keep using it every week or two until I'm ready to dye my hair again.

Easy to use, but color didn’t penetrate as well.
The product was very easy to use, which was encouraging. But after application, waiting a period of time, and rinsing it out. I still could see a lot of grays. Better than before I started, but not as total coverage as I had hoped.

A little tip goes a long way
I normally do not write reviews but I am on this one because I am aware of all the negative reviews and do not want the product to be discontinued.I have been using this product for about 2 years, every month to a month and a half between my salon gray covering. I am Asian with very dark hair, and even with "dark brown" the result has been somewhat mediocre. The last couple of times I noticed that it hardly covered anything. Then I found out that this product can be used on the wet hair by reading the Q&A, and also read on the internet that the tip for the home hair coloring is the heat. So, I suspected that the reason it didn’t work very well is due to this extreme cold weather, and tried following:- Got in the shower and shampooed the hair to wash out all the hair product- Towel-dried the hair and applied the product on damp hair- Briefly blasted the applied area with hot air with a hair dryer (not completely dry, just to apply a little bit of heat)- Put the shower cap on to retain the warmth and left it for about an hour (probably too long but I wanted to make sure)- Rinse with cold-to-lukewarm water, apply conditioner, and repeat the rinseAnd Voila! It worked, covering the gray probably the best ever in my previous touch-ups. This time, all the gray was colored, enough to blend in with the rest just right. No more eye-sore white sticking out! I feel that the key is the heat so I will play around with other parameters little more (no pre-shampoo, shorter leaving time, etc) next time.

Easy to use, but...
The first time I used the hair color I followed the directions and the dark brown color barely covered the white hair around my temples, but in the product reviews people recommend leaving the color on longer, not rinsing and several other methods to make the color take and cover grays better. Not to be deterred I applied again and left it on longer, the color took, but now I still had to rinse. We are over 30 minutes now. The color tube can be closed and the remainder used for the next coloring. The color held up okay, so the next time I left it on the longer length of time and rinsed, the next morning my pillow case was stained. I have been coloring my hair for thirty years and that was a first. For me the extra processing time was the same for when I used the permanent root touch up and had the color lasts longer.

Damage-free, portable touch-ups!
Are you a perfectionist who goes to the salon or colors their own hair regularly and hates to see a hint of gray at the part line and/or temples? If you also don't want to damage your hair with ammonia or peroxide, but you want something more than a temporary spray, this is probably what you've been looking for in a root touch-up. You don't have to mix anything; just squeeze the color onto the brush. It's something you could take with you if you're on a road trip and not worry about making a big mess in someone's house or a hotel room (not sure about TSA's rules for this product-- you'd have to check with them, but if you're driving, it packs easily). The auburn shade blends perfectly, doesn't stink, and is easy to use. I put it on while I'm having my morning coffee. By the time I've checked messages or taken a peek at social media, I'm ready to shower and rinse it out. The box says 10-20 minutes. I try to wait the full 20 to make sure roots are thoroughly covered, then use a mild, color-safe shampoo and color-safe conditioner. This product is affordable and can definitely help you extend time between hair appointments. If you have color fading on your ends, you might want to use a color gloss or color-enhancing conditioner in addition to using this product (not on the same day).
