Will this work for a 2010 main hdd cable?

Yes , it will be . This is the lower hard drive flex cable 821-1500-A for the A1347 Mac Mini Server. For the 2010 models this is the standard hard drive cable. For the 2011 or 2012 model this is used to add a 2nd drive.

Can i use this to install an msata ssd, or must the drive be in an enclosure?

It is for internal installation for a barebone ssd or hdd. There are multiple video guides on Youtube.

Wow there are no instructions?? if i try followin ifixit's guide, your cable points opposite direction than their kit.

My setup worked! If you're saying that the connector on the cable upgrade kit coming off of the drive is pointing 180 degree to the connector on the mini board maybe you have the drive in upside down?. There are also 2 different cables that look about the same one with a shorter cable to the board I ended up buying them both before I got the correct one.
