When I received the book some of the pages are coming off and a few are already loose.

Getting to be dated
The one thing about Latin America is that things change fast. Recent events in Colombia and Venezuela have made their sections out of date. I would like to see a more thorough examination of Rigoberta Menchu (p.449) as many universities have adopted that book as a factual text. Skidmore and company refute that.

Solid overview of contemporary Latin America
An excellent holistic overview of modern Latin America! Though an in-depth treatment of each Latin American state is not provided, there is more than enough material provided to make this book a good choice as a first stop for academic research projects on contemporary Latin American history, society, and politics.

quirky sense of humor
This is a great book with a quirky sense of humor at times that is a no nonsense or light footing around particular controversial topics. It's a great history book!

Boring to read, font very small and paragraphs to crowded.need more space , bold titles and allow the reader to breath.
