I have a custom "drop-in" in my entryway with 3 heavy wooden trapdoor-like doors over footwear storage. I have not been able to successfully install the 200N struts. The instructions do not explain how to determine where to attach them so that the door will (a) close all the way and (b) open as wide as possible - preferably 90 degrees. It is not easy to compress the strut so that you can gauge where it should attach to the door and adjacent cabinet to at least achieve (a).My initial attempt failed because the trapdoor would not close all the way. I tried to adjust the location and ended up damaging the door hinges (not the fault of these struts, but be aware that they exert considerable force), so I'm probably not going to use these struts.

Overview, this is really strong. We have an old blanket chest that we wanted to use as a toy box. It has a big heavy lid, thick wood, and the box is the size of a cedar chest. So - we needed a sturdy hinge that wouldn't slam shut on little fingers. This is the trick for that. You do have to read reviews on this and other hinges, though. Hubby is still working with this to get it to close slowly. Our does, but it doesn't close completely - leaves about 2" gap. The trick is where you screw the hinge pieces at on the lid and on the inside bottom - and this determines whether you have a fast close or one like we have - a perfecly slow close but it still doesn't shut the whole way. Good luck - but in summary, we are happy we got this, it just takes some adjusting.

When opening the lid, it flips the entire toy chest off the ground because it is trying to open with too much force. It does softly close, but it would be nice for it not to try to fly off the hinges when it opens

Look and work really well. Takes a bit of maneuvering to install correctly. Make sure you have them right where you want them.

Meh. I wasn’t expecting much for the price point but these were cheaply made and poor quality.

Finally something that works! I tried 3 different soft close styles and nothing worked for my homemade toy chest. These worked great!

Would have been nice to provide instructions for where hinge point should be located for proper placement.Nothing provided at all.

Purchased to install on a homemade toy box for my toddler. This was perfect for that purpose! No smashed fingers!
