Our dog, Sammy, recently passed on. Before that he was on medication for kidney problems. I don't know how he did it, but we'd give him the tablet and it would appear that he ate it. But later we'd find it in one of our shoes (I guess he was telling us what he thought of those pills!). I heard about this product and decided to try it. He LOVED it! If he noticed the pill, it didn't matter. He still took it. Finally he didn't need the meds anymore, but he loved them so much that they made for great training treats. So I put them on the subscribe and save list. It was nice knowing that I wouldn't forget to get them.As I said, Sammy has passed on (He was 15) and we cancelled the S&S subscription (I don't think we'll get another dog. Losing him hurt too much). But I wanted to review it because I want people to know just how great this product is.The only downside is that they are pretty greasy. But, at least for us, it was worth the hassle of wiping our hands off afterwards to know that our dog was getting his meds and was enjoying a special treat. They come in chicken, hickory, peanut butter and some allergy thing. Lots to choose from.The only suggestion I'd give the manufacturer is to provide a variety pack of different ones. Or Amazon sets up bundles consisting of different flavors, instead of selling only one flavor in a set, such as this one. I worried that Sammy might get tired of the one flavor and would quit eating it. He'd done that in the past with other treats so, even though it didn't happen this time, I still worried that it would eventually. It's so hard to find treats dogs like that when we do we want to give them as long as we can. Providing different flavors helps spread that enjoyment time a lot longer. Just a thought.

Iam always very happy with the Greenies Canine Pill Pockets Hickory Smoke flavor. It is very easy to get my two miniature dogs to take their daily meds this way because neither of them are happy with me trying to poke my finger down their throat or using a pill pusher. In addition, the pricing is $2.00 less per package than my local vet. The only reason I did not give them 5 stars is because they changed their shipping package this time and sent them shrink wrapped inside a box when they normally come inside their own box which gives them just enough room to fit comfortably in the box. With them shrink wrapped, it puts so much pressure on the individual items, that the pill pockets end up flattened, broken, and crushed. You then have to recreate your own pockets. It is a pain. I hope they go back to the boxes. Then you only have to worry about the pieces that get stuck in the top of the bags when the seal is created. Other than that, it is a great product.

I wondered how the kennel could medicate my dogs so easily when I had to hide their pills in all kinds of smelly foods, and STILL they would find a way to spit out the pill. The kennel workers shared their secret -- Pill Pockets -- and gave me a couple bags to take home. I was sold! Such a fabulous product, tho a little pricey. I like to order on Amazon b/c I can get a six-pack for cheaper than local retailers, even the bigger pet supply companies.I can say after MONTHS of using pill pockets, the dogs have never spit out a pill. I even can fit two small pills into one pocket. As long as I press the pocket closed, it works, and b/c they are so soft and mushy, it's easy to fit stuff inside. I also toss the filled pocket into the air and call it a treat so they gobble it up. I also break up pockets into little pieces and hide them in toys so they associate them with fun times. Highly recommend.

Large quantity of the same pill pockets from vet/pet store for better price. Sadly the dog I purchased these for passed away unexpectedly before I even got quarter way through the bags. He also refused to eat the pill pockets once he got sick. I tried to use with my picky chihuahuas but for having such tiny brains they know it means pill. The smell won't fake them out.I think the average dog is fooled by the pill pocket most of the time but smart dogs, stubborn spoiled dogs, and ones that are ill and don't want to take medications will not fall for it. It's hit and miss.

Both of my dogs take meds twice a day and these make my job much easier. Since the tablets are very small, I am able to take one of these PILL SIZED pockets and split it in two. The treat is soft, moist and pliable like soft dough and I can ball each half of the pocket around the tablets completely, before giving them to my dogs. Never has my dog eaten around the pill and spit it out, they gulp the pill in the pocket right down and want more.There are 30 in a pouch so splitting them makes a pouch last about a month. The price here is approximately half of that in retail stores, and buying this six pack every 4 months ensures that I will not run out and have to use cheese or lunchmeat which is fatty and difficult.These are a great solution to daily pet medication problems and a great deal!

I found it far cheaper to purchase Greenies Pill Pockets through Amazon than through our local vet, or the pet store chains which also carry this product. Our beloved dog has a chronic condition which requires her to take medications twice daily. She eagerly takes her medications when they are inserted into the pill pockets. No more problem getting pills down. Just be aware that pill pockets come in two sizes for dogs - capsule size is great for giving larger pills or capsules. Pill or tablet size which is what I ordered, is best for a smaller pill. When ordering I did not realize I had ordered the tablet/pill size. Another lesson learned to 'read the label'. Still a great product that I highly recommend.

Chihuahua loves them. Strong odor, greasy. Plenty of moisture to keep them pliable. We stick with the hickory smoked flavor. Helpful hint: The peanut butter ones are okay, but don't order the duck flavor, they smell horrible.
