Review: It seems to work for me - I recently found out that I am severely anemic due to very low iron in my blood. I have only been taking this supplement (which was recommended by my doctor) for a very short time. However, I am already feeling somewhat better and have more energy with no bad side effects so far. Capsules are small and easy to swallow.
Review: No longer anemic - Blood tests showed I was severely anemic. Took doctor’s suggestion of focusing on an iron rich diet without improvement. After researching iron supplements I chose optiferin-c. I take 1 pill every other day as I’ve seen there is some research that that can result in better absorption. Latest blood tests showed I am an no longer anemic after taking these pills for 4 months. I suggest taking pill prior to eating as this pill doesn’t seem to want to make it all the way to my stomach easily. Can have a bit of an aftertaste for a bit, but eating after can help. I’ve had no digestive issues from this supplement. Highly recommend.

**Q: Why is Calcium in this?  I’ve always been told to avoid calcium and iron together.**
A: Vitamin C helps the absorption of iron, however ascorbic acid is not stable with the Optiferin form so Pure Encapsulations uses calcium ascorbate. The amount of calcium is not enough to interfere with absorption.

**Q: Is this product food based?**
A: Pure Encapsulations Optiferin-C contains mineral iron from iron ore bound to synthetic glycine. The calcium ascorbate is derived from calcium from mineral ore and ascorbic acid from corn dextrose fermentation.

**Q: Is this iron chelated?**
A: Says, "Iron (as iron bis-glycinate) 28mg. 156% daily per 1 capsule.

**Q: What is in the calcium ascorbate blend? I read in a different question that the amount of calcium is so small it wont interfere with the iron.**
A: Pure Encapsulations OptiFerrin-C contains calcium ascorbate sourced from calcium from earthen ore and ascorbic acid from corn dextrose fermentation.  The amount of calcium is not enough to interfere with absorption.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fantastic product for low ferritin issues

My PCP/DO recommended these after she tested my ferritin and discovered it was 30. I know it take time for supplements ti take effect but the very first week of every other day I NOTICED A BIG difference in energy levels and mood. I am so thankful she recommended these. Im 55 and wish I had known about these and ferritin levels in my 40s!! If you are peri/pre menopause ASK YOUR PCP/PA/RN to check those levels. Getting ferritin checked again in December to see how I've improved! Can take this on an empty stomach no issues.
