Aven 17524 Solder Aid Kit, 6-piece

This set has every size and shape of pics, scrapers, pullers, and 1 brass and 1 steel brush to satisfy most every soldering / desoldering task. The tools are of very good quality, but the plastic handles are cheap and uncomfortable. I found a very simple remedy for this, so I didn't knock any stars because the actual tool quality and value to be so good.I easily remedied this issue by slipping a piece of 3/8 inch heat shrink onto each handle, each piece cut 1/4 to 3/8 inch longer than the plastic handle. Then used a heat gun to shrink them snug and neatly to the handle. This greatly increased the comfort and grip of the handles. If you do this, don't get the shiny vinyl or pvc type, but do get the flat black rubber type for the best grip. I don't know if Radio Shack has this type, but I got mine at Harbor Freight and it feels just about right. This is a set that I highly recommend for hobbyist or an electronics shop use. But for all day every day use, I'm sure there are other more appropriate tool sets available. For my uses, they are a great set and a very good value. Another use that came to mind is for firearm cleaning. This set has more sizes and shapes of tools to get into nook and cranny. There are more useful tools in this set than sets that I've seen specificity for that purpose. Thanks for reading. I hope someone finds my review helpful in making a buying decision.

It's been a while since I bought these, and I never intended to write a review, but I felt obliged to do so because they work so well. I don't use them for soldering, I use them to take apart laptops more than anything, and they have been the most used tool in my "arsenal". I was on here to find the same tools again because I want a spare set. The only way to improve them would be to make the metal more sturdy. I bent the pointy pick the first time I used it, but as far as using them to separate small pieces such as those found in laptops, they are great. The brushes are useless to me so I wish they were both on the same pick. Still very satisfied and would buy again as necessary. Best thing I have bought on Amazon, next to my Hakko soldering iron.

Functional and solid--these soldering tools are entirely adequate.Other than using molded plastic in lieu of wood (typical of the highest quality solder tools)--the tool set is perfect.

this is a great little set of tools to have in your shack or on your bench, I build ham radio's and ham equipment as a hobby, I use these guys on a daily basis and they hold up very well, and with such a low price you can afford to buy a new set if they were to become damaged.

great set of solder tools for the price. I used maybe 3 of them so far and I cannot complain at all. They are a must have for the occasional soldering hobbyist.
