No, I wouldn't use it for traveling, as it is rather bulky. Also, although I love this mirror, the light is not very bright, and it goes through batteries extremely quickly.

Q: How do you open it to put the batteries in?

once you take the back off the mirror, are the batteries placed in the center...can't open the 1 1/2 by 1 1/2 plastic door. Do you open the plastic door for placement of batteries?
