Auger Motor Upgrade for Traegers American Made by Gleason Avery 2RPM fits AC traegers and Pit boss

Boy is this the motor. I have a pro34 and could not get it over 375 on max. the 2.0 motor blows it out of the water. I've gotten to nearly 500 before. A few things to know, I have read that the temp can be a bit high at lower temps and I havent tested but I can tell you that often my thermometer temp probe and setting will be 50 degrees off. It runs HOT. It is also loud and really powerful.I have ordered a PID control and a motor mount bracket to help make this thing shine.However, quality wise? It's top notch. It performs exactly how they say it should. Just be aware that you're not buying a drop in replacement for the 1.6 RPM models.

The motor itself is excellent. However, this is not a direct drop in replacement. It is a 2.0 RPM motor, not a 1.6 RPM like (I’ve since learned) the OEM Traeger unit. I got this unit to replace my auger motor which had gone bad. When I installed this into my grill with a stock controller, temps were regularly 40-50° higher than the set point. I’d already planned on upgrading my controller (to a Savannah Stoker PID controller), but wasn’t planning on doing it right away. Since I mainly use my grill for low and slow cooking, I decided to go ahead and just upgrade the controller as well.With both the controller and this motor installed and calibrated, my grill is fantastic. I have very stable temps anywhere from 180°-525°. The ability to get higher temps is the big benefit of this motor. The stock motor won’t feed enough pellets to get past 425° or so. Now my pellet grill gets hot enough to sear steaks. Though it isn’t as good for searing as plain old charcoal, it can do it which is a nice option to have.Nothing wrong with this motor, it’s very well built and a quality unit and installation was very straightforward. Just beware it’s not a drop in replacement (at least in my experience).

If you want to "Tool Time" your Traeger - buy this motor. Installation is easy - and after several months of use, not a single issue - you can hear the "POP" when the auger crushes a pellet that would have jammed the auger with the stock motor.

This did not fix my smoker that keeps having auger jams. I was hoping it would have more torque and be strong enough to overcome the pellets. It was not. The packaging was poor also. The box was crushed but the flimsy fan blade survived. It is heavier than original part but maybe not superior.

I've purchased the of these motors and will be getting 2 more. They are not as quiet as advertised or the old made in America traeger grill motors. However they are faster than advertised. Running 2.5+ RPM and are closer to matched pairs than any other motor I've tried. BBQ190 has two fire pots in each chamber and with other motors I was experiencing 50 degrees or more from one side of the grill to the other. This is no longer case now keeping it within 15 degrees or less.I do not know how they do with stock controllers but with PID controllers like Savannah Stokers they do very well. And will get your grill hotter than stock motors.

So I decided to purchase this based on supposed higher quality. However, it does not work. The fan goes on and off as it should but the auger never moves. I would hope customer service would reach out to me and offer a remedy.

A little difficult to install but manageable. The fan shaft is quite a bit longer than on the factory motor and it hits the inside wall of the pellet hopper. I had to space it out almost a quarter inch to get it to quit rubbing. Other than that it’s great.
