This statue is really quite beautiful

This statue is quite a bit different that other Toscano statues that I own in that it is not entirely hollow inside, which is a huge improvement in my opinion. It is also much more reasonably priced than other Toscano products, which I assume is largely due to the fact that it is also considerably shorter. This means less money spent on materials as well as on shipping.First, for those who are not aware of it, Toscano uses some type of composite material to construct their statues. Part of it is ground stone. However, the majority of the material used is a type of resin. While they do not reveal the exact ingredients of the resin, most resins that I know of consist of plastics. This makes their statues VERY light compared to stone, concrete or any other product you traditionally see used in outdoor sculptures. As such, they are not going to last as long exposed to the elements as these heavier and more dense materials. It also allows them to sell their products at a lower price than others, since the shipping costs on stone or concrete statues are extremely expensive and they tend to break during transport.As other reviewers have noted, this sculpture is really more appropriate for indoor use, due to the materials that it is made of. Fortunately, the statue comes with "feet" on the bottom to keep it from scraping your floors or furniture. As an indoor statue I think that it is a great product and definitely worth the price. If you are looking for something to put outdoors that will last for generations and can not be easily walked off with by anyone being able to lift 9 lbs, you would be better off looking at a local home or garden center.
