Neotech Bassoon, Black (3301001)

I needed this as a backup for my leather strap which needed repair. Flimsy. Not trustworthy for support of my expensive instrument.

My son uses this item. It's comfortable for him to use. The cup is a bit deep for his bassoons because it interferes with some of the pads on the boot joint. To remedy this we stuffed some cloth in the bottom of the cup so it brought the bassoon up a little higher. It's not very adjustable but he seems to manage fine.

It does quite well and I would give it 4.5 stars. It sometimes covers the lowest opening, keeping it from 5 stars.

When i first got it, the strap restricted a key at the bottom, but after i cut some of the strap off with scissors the strap worked wonders.

Seems to do what it’s intended to do. Can’t complain about that.

This is a nice bassoon strap, but the tugger action on the side instead of just the usual pull-under adjustment unfortunately makes it hard to get the bassoon in a good position for me. The cup also doesn't like to cooperate with my bassoon. My other seat strap works much better and is just a piece of leather with a little hook on the end. Not a bad seat strap, but i think they should keep it simple.

I am very disappointed in this product. When I went to use it for the first time, I realized that the cup is too big for the boot. The cup blocked the two pads at the bottom of the boot (the low G pad and the A-flat pad). I actually had to take a knife and trim some of the cup off below the pads so it would stop blocking them. Fastening the strap to the chair leg does not offer any real protection, either. Also, it would be much easier to just adjust the height of the strap by pulling on the ends of it rather than dealing with the adjusters that are on the strap, which really tend to be a pain. Unfortunately, the non-skid pad makes it impossible to adjust it that way, forcing you to use the annoying adjusters on the strap. A simple piece of leather would work much better than this strap. 2/5 Would not recommend.

It’s very comfortable, but the soft boot cup infringes on the lower pads. I cut away a good bit of the material, but ultimately ditched it for a seat strap with a metal boot ring.
