I works well when the garlic cloves are cut to fit. However, I could not use it for ginger because of the hand strength needed.

I have been wanting a garlic press for a while now and I finally stopped procrastinating and bought this one. SO glad I have it now! I actually enjoy chopping and mincing as I find it a bit therapeutic (weird, I know) so I haven't minded to mince my own garlic all these years. However, it is a pain to fully get garlic smell out of my bamboo cutting board! I basically have an indirect annoyance to chopping garlic- I don't mind the chopping, I just hate the scrubbing/clean up afterwards on my cutting board.This is why the idea of a garlic press has enticed me but I'm a bit stubborn when it comes to purchasing a new kitchen gadget that does something I can already do. I loveeeeee the ease of clean up with using this press! I basically just take out the little basket and toss that as well as the entire press in the utensil tray in the dishwasher and that's it! No more garlic smells on my cutting board! I use garlic in almost every recipe so this is something that is definitely worth the fair price for the amount of use I will get out of it. Build quality is great as well. It feels completely solid and I don't see needing a replacement anytime soon. I do wish the cavity for the garlic was a bit larger but I don't really mind and it's not something to dock a star for. If you are like me, you usually see that previous sentence and think that the review is probably NOT biased. But think of it this way, it is the same ideal as using a coupon at the store- gives you a great chance to try out a new snack or product but it does NOT always mean that you will actually enjoy it as well. For this garlic press, I just happen to thoroughly enjoy this and would/will pay the full price for it if I need a replacement in the future.

My husband and I both love to cook, and I love to get new kitchen gadgets that help me to cook! I love garlic, but I don't like taking the time to chop it. This is the second garlic press that we have owned and I'm glad that I ordered it! We needed one that we could have at our camper because we have started using it so much. I love that it is all stainless steel! It feels very sturdy and I feel certain that it will last a long time. I also like that I don't have to worry about it rusting. I was worried with a garlic press that it would be hard to use and clean, but that isn't the case at all. The press has a cup inside that has small holes on one side. There is a flat metal plate attached to the handle that fits inside that cup to push everything out. I like that small cup inside comes out to make clean-up super easy. So I had a garlic press. The same one, I've owned for 14 years. OXO brand. Didn't have a problem with it. But then I started watching some cooking shows and saw them use this fancy looking one that I've never seen before. Being that I love pressing my garlic for ease and convenience, I just had to try this new fancy one. So I get it and am instantly intrigued. My old one was just one part. This one has a moving hinge as well as a press that moves and a little "bucket" that you can take out and yes, easily rinse clean. But does it work well? I opened it, washed it and used it right away on dinner. Pressing it was a breeze, you felt a satisfying crunch and the garlic comes right out. It's faster to load and press since you can load the little "bucket" without pieces falling out like my old press. I'm sooooo pleased with this. I must get it for my best friend for her housewarming. Stainless steel and machine washable but it's too easy to wash clean by hand and even satisfying. Love this new kitchen gadget! This garlic press is sleek-looking and compact in size. I have used it a couple times and found it to be easy to use and clean. I like that it comes apart to rinse with water.

I was very excited to get this garlic press because the one that I had for years finally broke. This stainless steel garlic press looked like it would definitely fit the bill.Let me start by saying that I think with many kitchen gadgets, simple is better. This one looks simple and very utilitarian. I have now been using it for a couple of days and I like it. I don't love it, but I really like it. It does exactly what it says it does and it does it well. I was a little skeptical about putting unpeeled garlic in, but it does work. The clean up is very easy. The handles are great and provide a good enough grip to be able to smash the garlic with no problem. The construction looks sturdy.The one thing that I do not like is that it has too many moving pieces. Remember that simple is better idea? This has too many moving parts for me. I know it may be silly and to be fair, this has NOT malfunctioned in any way whatsoever. I don't love that the little basket is removable or that the press is hinged. It makes me worried that it will eventually break and stop working.In all fairness, this is only my personal preference. It may have something to do with nostalgia for my mother's old (and much loved) garlic press that she's had ever since I can remember; which is well over 40 years now. This reason is the ONLY reason that I took a star off. I like it a lot, but just don't love it.I received this product for free for purposes of testing and review.
